Run Report event 243 through the medium of Haiku (Japanese verse of 17 syllables in 3 lines of 5, 7 and 5)

Saturday morning,
Spiceball Park. What, no picnic?
A 5k run? Aaargh!

It’s so hot today...
Hottest day of the year. (Did
I mention the heat?)

Director’s briefing.
So professional, and he’s
13! Ready, GOOOOO!

Pitter patter feet,
huffing, puffing breaths. Someone
stumbles. All’s OK

A snaking line of
bright colours bobbing through the
trees by the canal.

Smiles and cheering. Not
from me you fool! Our Hi-vis
heroes on the course.

Safely over the
rickety wooden bridge (No
sign of hidden trolls)

Round the green island,
relaxed, found your stride. This could
(almost) feel like fun.

And somehow the end
is finally in sight. Just
one sprint from glory.

50 Park Runs? Been
there, done that, (still waiting for
the milestone T-shirt).

Same time next week? Go
for that P.B? DON’T FORGET
YOUR BARCODE. Ding! Ding!
