The last January parkrun for 2020! 25/01/2020 #272

Thanks to Helen BURTON for this week's run report.  Helen has participated in 370 parkruns!!! 93 of those have been at Banbury!

Thanks to good weather last week, Banbury parkrun was back for the last Saturday in January. This was especially pleasing for several reasons; my sleep perspective (tourism can mean an early start, in New Zealand parkrun’s start at 8am!), always great to catch up with friends and familiar faces, and meant I could have a lovely cycle to the park.

The first time briefing was given by Frances (the birthday girl). There were several first-timers and also tourists with visitors from France being the furthest – welcome to all.

Claire the Run Director gave the briefing and then we were off with Frances wearing a bib for her birthday (if you are celebrating your birthday there is a bib you can wear on your run, for further details enquire with the Run Director). The course had dried out since the last Banbury parkrun. Apart from the mud before you got onto the path, there was only one puddle, which I decided to run through, rather than run around (my nicely cleaned trainers didn’t stay that clean for long, sorry Daniel).

On the course the volunteers were fantastic. Special mentions go to the young volunteer with a homemade sign to congratulate the runners (encouragement always goes a long way) and Julian and Sera on either side of the bridge.

Due to the mild weather after my run, it was great to encourage and cheers others in the finishing straight and also chat with people who might never meet apart from a parkrun. Then go to Morrison café after the run and catch up with others whilst the results were being processed.

Hope weather stays behaved so we can be back at Banbury next week.

Helen
