Barking parkrun Event number 401 22nd February 2020

Well, I think we were all blown away one way or another by this week’s run. A full volunteer roster without the need for last-minute appeals, a record field (other than Christmas Day runs) and two significant milestones reached: Krisztina Maroti (100 Parkruns) and Dawn Blake, who completed her 250th Parkrun tied to three doggie-faced friends (if this leaves you baffled, see our Facebook page for some photos).

This week 180 people ran, jogged and walked the course of whom 45 were first timers, including a colossal 34 visitors (too many to mention individually, but you were all very welcome and we hope to see you again soon). Before the start Chris looked more like he was addressing a mass rally than simply briefing the normal handful of newcomers.

A warm welcome to 11 completely new Parkrunners: Daniel Howes, Mariusz Malik, Kirsty Howlett, Ina Howlett, Ellie Stevens, Shadene Palmer, Jag Singh, Esther Olaleye, Dagmara Smolarska, Natasha Shaikh and Kelly Cooper.

Also, congratulations to the 12 of you who recorded new Personal Bests in challenging conditions: Faisal Mohamed Ali, Syed Fahim Ahmed Roomy, Jennifer Taylor, Andrew Wedge, Samuel Awe, James Theobald, Daniel Miller, Jacob Kelly, Joseph Grange, Harjinder Sahotay, Francis Bonsall and Terence Corti.  In all representatives of 22 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 12 volunteers:
Philip Pearson, Alison Fryatt, Harmander Singh, Chris Heslegrave, Margaret Byers, Greg Adams, Joe Stacey, Grace Kelly (with a special thank-you for the delicious home-baked cakes), Charity Anyika, Rosie Fforde, Pascalia Pamba and Maya Butt.
