Barrow parkrun #346 – 16th June 2018

This week's event was a quieter one than usual. 121 runners, joggers and walkers took on the 5km challenging route which takes place at 09:00 on a Saturday morning.
5 participants made their parkrun debuts this week, so a warm welcome to Shaun Mason, David Turner, Ben Shenton, Colin Blackburn and Julia Sharpe - We hope to see you come back for a second go soon.
Paul Musgrove, a keen parkrun tourist joined us today. His 112th event but 1st at Barrow. Parkrun events take place all over the country and more are starting up. We hope ours is a memorable one for all visitors.
Event 346 saw 12 plucky participants pounding the paths to achieve new personal best times. 6 ladies, the other 6 were gents. Well done!
It's a great achievment to reach a milestone number, this week Dena Mason completed her 50th parkrun and is rewarded with a red 50 tshirt. Well done to you Dena.
1st to finish the hilly course this week was Ryan Everett in 17:41.
2nd over the line - Lee Winter in 18:40
3rd place - and 1st Junior runner home was Jakob Nelson in 19:17
1st Lady to finish Alex Fairer in 21:47 - her 7th parkrun to date.
Age grade toppers were Peter Hall with 80.68 % and Brenda Bagley with 77.8% - very impressive.
Age-Grading calculations take into account your age and gender to produce a percentage score for your run. Peter and Brenda are consistently high scorers and deserve a mention.

If you'd like to give parkrun a go please come along. Everyone meets at the bandstand for a pre-run briefing on Saturday at 08:50. If you haven't been for a while, it would be great to see you, if you're new to parkrun please register, print a barcode and come along.
Many runners, volunteers and spectators meet at the cafe afterward for a drink and a chat, it's a lovely way to end the event and begin your weekend. Everyone is welcome so please do join us.
