The horrendous wet weather at the weekend had a big impact on the number of people who braved the elements to complete Barrow parkrun, with 91 people, the lowest turnout since Christmas Day 2016 proving just how bad the weather was! There was plenty of water falling from the sky and as the drainage struggled to cope there was plenty underfoot too, a very soggy start to the weekend.
12 of those 91 were first timers; we hope the weather didn't put them off coming back and trying the course again in drier weather. Incredibly, 5 people managed to record personal best times; maybe they were just pushing to get the finish as quickly as possible to find shelter in the café!
21 people volunteered and they deserve special mention for manning the marshalling posts to ensure the event went ahead.
Walney Wind Cheetah Suzanne Boyle reached the ultimate parkrun accolade of completing her 250th parkrun, well done Suzanne, that's some commitment, having made her first appearance in August 2012.
Male placings this week:
Andrew Dorrian was first across the line in 18:28.
Parkside Panther William McAllister was 2nd in 19:11
Sean Roberts took the 3rd place slot in 20:07
Black Coombe Runner Cheryl King was 1st in 23:53
Walney Wind Cheetah Alison Coward was 2nd in 25:05, a new PB
Suzanne Boyle was 3rd on her 250th run in 26:08
