Event number 379
26th January 2019
This week 200 people ran, jogged and walked the undulating Barrow course, of whom 7 were first timers and 30 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part, while Sean Roberts completed his 50th run.
As well as another great high turnout hitting the 200 mark, this Saturday saw new technology embraced at Barrow parkrun - an issue with the traditional barcode scanners meant that the virtual volunteer app was used by the team for the first time, allowing the volunteers to use their mobiles to scan in runners’ barcodes and finish tokens. A successful trial which “worked like a dream” by all accounts - the team no doubt are now itching to try out whatever future techie advances may be in store for parkrun!
The event was made possible by 25 volunteers:

We welcome children at parkrun. Please note that those under the age of 11 must be within arm's reach of a parent, guardian or designated adult of the parents' choice whilst attending 5k parkrun events. It must also be ensured that children place themselves appropriately at the start so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
