A cold and frosty morning got the better of a few parkruns this weekend but after an early course inspection Barrow’s event was given the go-ahead, allowing 103 people to run, jog or walk around the park.
Among these were 9 first timers, while 5 people recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part, including junior runners Sophie Leadbetter and Brooke Durkin, from Leven Valley Athletics Club, who came home as 1st and 2nd ladies respectively in their first parkrun.

Christmas is not far off and Barrow parkrun will continue as normal throughout December, but with a couple of extras - there will be a parkrun on Christmas Day, as well as one on New Year’s Day. Both events always attract a great turnout but to make them happen we also need strong volunteer support - please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org if you can lend a hand!

The male record is held by Phil WAITE who recorded a time of 15:12 on 3rd October 2015 (event number 206).
The Age Grade course record is held by Lizzie BROWNE who recorded 90.24% (16:24) on 21st January 2012 (event number 17).
Barrow parkrun started on 24th September 2011. Since then 4,869 participants have completed 54,318 parkruns covering a total distance of 271,590 km, including 8,697 new Personal Bests. A total of 721 individuals have volunteered 7,781 times.
