We did it!
Many thanks for the awesome core team and volunteers who helped to put on such a great launch of the Bath Skyline parkrun.
Over 200 runners and 25 volunteer marshals gathered in the pouring rain on Claverton Down to take part in the first Bath Skyline parkrun. Runners of all abilities joined the parkrun family – a fun, friendly and sociable gathering of people who have come together to enjoy a run in beautiful surrounds.
It’s taken 18 months to get here and we are very appreciative for the support we’ve had and the friends we’ve made along the way. I’d like to say a special thanks to Geoff Keogh; our parkrun Ambassador who has provided guidance and support throughout this entire process.
Special thanks also to the National Trust, BANES, Bath Half, BMI Bath Clinic and Relish Running who’ve all been involved in helping bring parkrun to Bath.
I was amazed to see that for 78 of the 200 runners this was their first ever parkrun. Welcome to all our new parkrunners. We had times ranging from 17mins to 47mins showing how parkrun appeals to runners of all abilities.
Mick O'Doherty was first over the line in 17mins 27secs, with Guy Woods coming across the line 4 seconds later. First female was Team Bath Athletics Club's Sarah Baxter who completed the 5k in 20:31, finishing 19th overall.
An amazing result too for Max Davis who was 6th overall! Max is in Junior Male 11-14 age category.
Thanks again to everyone involved; core team, volunteers, runners and especially Phil Wyatt for the amazing pictures. We can’t do it without you!
See you on Saturday; for hopefully a much drier parkrun.
