Run report – Beckton parkrun #390 – 26 October 2019

40 parkrunners today at Beckton on a dry but very windy morning, well done to you all.
We shared the park with the local Rotary club who managed to plant 10,000 crocuses while we were out running, and who very kindly shared their refreshments with us. We look forward to seeing the results come the spring!
There were also 7 first timers this morning, including our visitor Rob from Chipping Sodbury parkrun, who kindly wrote the below for us while waiting for the run to start. Thanks Rob!
Have a good weekend everyone and hope to see you next week for my and Vicky's send-off!

Thanks for setting up Beckton parkrun. After you have gone to all the effort of setting up the course, nice and early, the least I can do is write a bit for your run report.

So my wife and I are staying over in Silvertown for a Family History Show at the Excel. She was volunteering today and so I came across for parkrun alone today for my 178th run and 37th different event.

Lovely to meet another tourist heading for Lon-done, but I just like going and meeting people at a parkrun near where we happen to be on a Saturday morning. My home run is Chipping Sodbury, in South Gloucestershire where we now, after nearly 300 events, have over 400 runners on a regular basis. The contrast makes a small event like Beckton a refreshing change and is a nice insight into what the early days of parkrun must have been like.

Many thanks for doing the hard yards week in, week out, to keep Beckton parkrun on the go. And thanks for your lovely, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. True parkrun spirit.
