Beckton Parkrun number 403

Well done to all 61 runners who came out on a cold, crisp but sunny morning, including a good number of 19 newcomers to Beckton which we always seem to get - notably the 'Burgess on Tour' group from south London - and 4 PBs.

As usual, thanks to all our volunteers who make this thing sing - fortunately a plentiful supply of you today. Special thanks to Keeley, our 'guest' Tail Walker. As always we can use more! It gives our regular volunteers a chance to run more often.

We have International Women's Day coming up on 7 March, so watch this space for ways we will be supporting this event.

Take care and see you next week.

Parkrun number 401

It was a lovely bright sunny morning at Beckton today, well done to the 64 of you who came out for the first run of 2020. A nice way for Dave to start his 64th birthday celebrations.
Congratulations to the two of you who achieved PB's in the mud although it wasn't actually that back today and congratulations also go to Sherry who completed her 150 run today.
Our thanks as always go to those who gave up their time to volunteer without you we wouldn't be able to run the events so we are very grateful. If you would like to volunteer in the future please speak to one of the RD's or email the Beckton Office remember parkrun recommends that you volunteer at least 3 times throughout the year and we always appreciate the help.
A very Happy New Year to you all.

Beckton Parkrun Christmas Day

Beckton Park Run 14/12/2019 Event 397

Soggy underfoot but otherwise fairly mild for mid-December. Well done to the 48 who turned up - with visitors from Billericay, Cambridge, Cassiobury and Huntingdon. So a total of 18 first-timers to Beckton (over a third of the runners!) - but no PBs in these conditions!

4 runners were on their first ever Park Run, and one of them was Paul Ojo who just pipped Philip Whitehouse to the line in an exciting finish. Well done Paul!

Congratulations also to Allyson Johnson who completed her 250th Park Run - quite an achievement! Thanks for the celebratory cakes Allyson!

As we approach Christmas we will do the draw for a London Marathon place next week. And we also plan to run on Christmas Day, so check Facebook and other announcements.

Have a great week!
RD Colin

30/11/2019 Event 395 _ Foggy, Tree Planting & Good Gym

Hi Beckton Park Run
A foggy and fresh start with 46 runners.
Well done to some of our regulars achieving some great running milestones and even better wearing your deserved 50 or 100 Parkrun T shirt. Superb effort and wear with pride, keep up the good work.

An existing day for our park, with an amazing organisation Trees for Cities planting approximately 9,000 trees with around 500 volunteers tree planting today. Will be an amazing addition to the existing woodlands and was nice to see loads of people out in the park.

As part of the event today, we were supported by an army of additional volunteers from the Good Gym, that assisted our regular volunteers to marshall the areas that were being set up for the tree planting, to ensure our runners were safe and were not in the way of the tree planters.

The Good Gym are a great organisation that run and and get involved with community projects. Worth checking out. Some of these Good Gym runners are regulars at our parkrun.

We thank everybody that contributed to our Parkrun today, including our friends at Good Gym, with some running the Parkrun and marshalling around the course. Then went over for the tree planting. Thanks for adding to our great park with more trees.

Have acknowledged and volunteer credited as many as possible from Good Gym that were Parkrunners.
So a big thanks to the Good Gym team for their assistance today.
Thanks to Brahama that also came 01st today, Beatrix, Sharon, Dave, Chi, Johnny, Sarah, Simon, Devika, Helen, Chris, Brad, Mary, Alice and anyone else we have missed off.
If have missed any let us know.

Lastly a big thankyou to all of the Beckton Team, including our amazing regular volunteers that marshalled a and carried out other Parkrun duties, welcomed our visitors and carried out a mass running test on a slightly amended course.

Thanks for all your efforts.
