Belton House parkrun
Event Number 193
29th February 2020
First EVER leap day parkrun!
After a couple of weeks being battered by Ciara and Dennis and every weekend in February being overshadowed by high winds and a lot of rain dozens of parkruns across the UK cancelled for a third week in a row. Jorge let us down though and was a no show for the 09:00 start today. The parkrun weather fairies worked their magic and blessed us with a relatively dry run! A great show from all this morning with many of you in onesies, a selection of frogs for this leap day parkrun, the pink ladies made an appearance and a dashing young man Tom (pictured above) in top hat and tails, by the way any of you that know Tom and Tasha, his four legged pooch, Tasha is now 18 and hanging up her parkrun legs and her last parkrun will be on Saturday, be sure to give Tom and Tasha a shout out. Plus the usual array of smiling faces, speedy sprinters, four legged friends, buggies, jolly joggers and wonderful walkers.
With Newark parkrun having been cancelled we thought we might have been in for a busy one, but a healthy 284 of you walked, jogged, ran and leapt round the parkland at Belton house. Despite it being our smallest parkrun of 2020 so far (by almost half!), we welcomed a massive 31 Belton first timers, and the clear, storm free morning allowed 19 of you to achieve a new PB! A massive 95 club runners represented this weekend at Belton, making up a large proportion of the field! Congratulations to all!
A special congratulations to those achieving milestones this week: Juniors: Harry Pattison and Harry Wardle for achieving 10 parkruns! Tiffany Davis for achieving her 50th parkrun! Kimberley Etherington-Bates, Wendy Spridgens, Carol Dudley, Ian Starbuck and Michael Robert Jones for achieving 100 parkruns! ... and to the newlyweds Carol & Ian who crossed the finish line through a guard of honor!
Not an official milestone, however our very own Richard Hall - roster coordinator, pacer and all round good egg and a huge supporter of parkrun reached his 200th milestone while supporting another parkunner to a sub 30 5k Thank you Richard for all you do for parkrun and the community on a Saturday morning
Thanks to the 32 hi vis heroes who made the event possible this morning, without them, parkrun would not be possible and a massive thanks to PGL at Caythorpe Court, who brought down 16 volunteers this morning and kept you all running with their PGL enthusiasm!

On the Horizon
Next week - 07th March 2020 - event #194
07th March is International Woman's Day parkrun.
Promoted by parkrun Uk and supported by 'This girl can'
This Girl can is supported by Sports England and lottery funded.
Parkruns stats show although 54% of woman are registered with parkrun, are under represented, therefore we would love you all to promote IWD and let woman know how friendly parkrun is and that they can run, walk or jog (no pressure) and promote the day by wearing PURPLE.
Don't worry boys this is happening within a normal parkrunday and and hope to see as many of the boys as possible supporting also by wearing PURPLE
Belton's 200th event
Unfortunately due to a couple of cancelled weeks our 200th event will now hopefully be (if we don't have any more cancellations)
Saturday 25th April 2020
We had a wonderful leap day parkrunday and hope you all did too.
Shauns photos really capture the fun, smiles and community feel.
You can find the link to Shaun's parkrun album for this weeks event here.
Thats all for now folks, see you all next parkrunday, barring any storms! 07th March Don't forget to WEAR PURPLE
