On Christmas Day for our very first festive parkrun, 113 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 52 were first timers and 1 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 25 different clubs took part.
At least three very significant tourists attended for the first time - Chris COWELL, the first person to run 100 different parkruns (and where the Cowell Club name comes from), Paul FIELDING who has done more different parkruns in the UK than anyone else (currently 473) and Aka Lady Penelope (Rosemary) EGBE who has done more different parkruns in the UK than any other female runner (currently 347).
A further member of this hardcore team of tourists in attendence was Stephen TARRANT and David TARRANTwho have done a 'mere' 309 and 299 different parkruns in the UK respectively. It was good to meet you all and well done on some serious parkrun tourism!
In total there were an incredible 52 runners making their first visit to Bethlem. It was almost as if there was some sort of connection between Christmas Day and Bethlem....
Sermon on the log!
Another first timer to Bethlem was first lady Clare ELMS, the fourth (known) world record holder we have had visit us since we started in May. Clare also broke the Age Grade course record, recording a mighty impressive 88.09%.
