Event 42 – 14th March 2020 – Coronavirus Concerns

After seemingly weeks of storms and rain, the sun made a brief appearance (well for a short while anyway) at this morning's parkrun; a little light relief in what was a slightly subdued event given the wider news of parkrun shutdowns across the globe, due to the continuing Covid-19 outbreak.

Sunny start 14.03.20

The result of a little sunshine and generally drier weather this week meant that although still wet, the course had dried out a little and was not quite the mud bath it has been for the previous few weeks, another reason why we had a few more hardy souls (43) than in recent weeks, prepared to run, jog or walk their way around.

Tourists from Derbyshire and Royal Lemington Spa swelled our numbers along with two parkrun first timers.

undeterred runners and volunteers

With the news that more mass sporting events maybe cancelled next week, the Bethlem parkrun team are bracing themselves for the news that future parkruns in the UK maybe also be impacted and of course, if that happens, we will let you know via our social media channels.

Until next time (when ever that is) we hope all our parkrunners and volunteers stay safe and well.

This week 44 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 6 were first timers and 3 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 17 volunteers:

Terri SHOTTON • Mike SIMMS • Janet SIMMS • Jackie GANLEY • James TINKLER • Marcus ELWES • Christopher JACKSON • Sarah REGAN • Jason HONE • Isabella SHORT • Betty FOGGITT • Kev HOWARTH • Simon POWELL • John WHITELEY • Susan CLARK • Mary YATES • Francesca MEEHAN
