Black Park not parkrun # 4 from 6 to 12 July 2020

We’re back......in a manner of speaking.

OK, not the normal parkrun event that we know and love but the next best thing!

It’s been a strange and difficult past few months for most of us and if you’re like us, the absence of our regular parkrun and the community spirit it provided has made things even more challenging.

However, the Black Park parkrun community have risen to the challenge and have now completed week 4 of the not parkrun initiative, details of which are below.

During the course of this past week, 47 people ran, jogged and walked the 5k course of their choice, at a location of their choice; 13 were first timers and 19 recorded new Personal Bests. Well done everyone.

First male finishers were Charlie Edwards in 17:30 and Mark Korinek in 19:53

First female finishers were Kathryn Frost in 22:47 and Laura Hawkins in 27:14

For those of us with an enquiring nature, the days when participants carried out their personal challenge……….

Monday 7, Tuesday 2, Wednesday 2, Thursday 7, Friday 4, Saturday 20 and Sunday 5. I guess Saturdays still have a special place in people’s hearts.

Not parkrun

The not parkrun initiative is an effort to help people retain the parkrun community spirit by retaining a weekly 5k event that we can each participate in at a time and place of our own choosing.

The rules for not parkrun are below but please do remember to follow government rules about social distancing with any participating colleagues or other members of the public.

What are (not)parkruns?

In the absence of parkrun events (not)parkrun is an opportunity for parkrunners to submit a 5k walk, jog, or run, on a route of your choosing, on a day and time of your choice, wherever you are in the world and following appropriate guidelines for physical activity wherever you’re based. You can record up to one activity per day, with your fastest time each week included in a weekly results table.

The columns

  • (End)Date - the last date of the week by which (not)parkruns are grouped
  • parkrunners - the number of unique participants who have recorded a (not)parkrun.
  • (not)parkruns - the total number of (not)parkruns recorded for the given time period.

Results can be sorted and searched using the filters at the top of the table.
