Anyone who attended last Saturday will know how slippery it was at the finish area, in the winter months please check the Bradford parkrun facebook page or twitter feed on Saturday mornings before you set off because thats where I'll post if an event has to be cancelled.

I'll always try to let you know as early as possible on a Saturday morning.

An ‘Olympic’ event

 202 amazing runners today!

If you have registered for parkrun but have never actually come along and done one, there's never been a better time than next Saturday 18 August,

parkrun is involved in a great initiative called Join In Local Sport.

It's not about being the strongest, the fittest or the fastest, it's about having a go, having fun and just being able to say "I DID IT!"

Tell your friends, family, work colleagues about parkrun and encourage them to come along next Saturday.

Be inspired by the Olympic athletes, Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis, Dai Green, the brilliant Brownlees and Sarah Attar who made history as the first female athlete from Saudi Arabia, a Muslim lady proud to run for her country.

Join us on for all the chat and gossip!

Timer failure 18.2.12

Unfortunately the timer failed today and so no times have been recorded at all, if you know your time and position please let me know as soon as possible

either via the email or on the Bradford parkrun page on Facebook.

post run coffee

Nick from the Cafe 2 U service will be attending our event as often as possible to prepare fresh hot and cold well earned drinks for parkrunners, volunteers and spectators, bring some change and pop along to see him, he's just at the end of the path behind the scanning table!

The parkrun software has been upgraded and no longer has the facility to find runners by name on the database, therefore if you don't have your barcode when you run we cannot give you a time.

a snowy pre-Christmas parkrun

We ummed and ah'd about whether to go ahead this morning, but in the end Rick and Kerry went down to check out the park and we went for it.

We were joined in the inch or so of the cold, white stuff by 10 die hard runners, Bob Wishart, a regular at Newcastle parkrun joined us sporting his vest, shorts and the all important 'bah humbug' hat.

Glad that the runners outnumbered the marshalls we headed down to the start, drew a line in the snow for the start line and set them off at 9am prompt after a warning about not lobbing snowballs at marshalls or other parkrunners.

All 10 runners finished without any broken bones, stopping to build snowmen or skating across the frozen lake.

Big thanks to all runners and volunteers this morning, I think I left my toes in the ice :o(

See you all at parkrun on Christmas day morning, don't forget your flasks and mince pies!

Christmas and New Year parkruns

As long as I can get enough volunteers Christmas Day and New Years Day parkruns will go ahead at the usual time.

It'd be great to see reindeer antlers, santa costumes and general merriment to really make it special.

Can Christmas day parkrunners/volunteers/supporters please bring along flasks, mince pies and Christmas cake etc which we can set up in the bandstand to make it a bit special.

Please let me know on what you intend to bring along?

I have been down to the park and although there are still some icy patches I have decided to go ahead. It's currently 6 degrees c and forecast to remain at approx 6 overnight. Based on the speed of the thaw and the temperature forecast I feel it's safe to go ahead as long as runners are sensible.

Runners take note...

1) Please wear running shoes with a decent grip

2) Ensure you wear weather appropriate clothes and ideally something warm to put on immediately afterwards

3) I wouldn't be aiming to break any records tomorrow, you'll need to watch where you tread so take it steady

4) The park cafe has now closed so feel free to bring a flask and a snack for afterwards

I could still do with a couple of well wrapped up volunteers, ring or text me on 07801 552182 if you can assist

 Thurs 9 December

Well the ice and snow is lingering!

I will be visiting the park tomorrow to risk assess the course and will update with a decision then.

Please add us on Facebook where much of the discussion regarding to regular news takes place.

Due to the park still being very deep in snow and the general icyness of the access roads a decision has been taken to cancel Bradford parkrun on Saturday 4 December

Apologies for the inconvenience
