After a few months of hard work behind the scenes, the day had finally arrived for the inaugural Bramley parkrun. From far and wide 227 runners decended upon Bramley park, in the West Leeds area to test the course. They experienced the testing hills and turns of the 4 lap course on this damp Saturday morning.
We had visitors from South and East Yorkshire, Lancashire and other regions. We also had great friends visiting from Temple Newsam, Woodhouse Moor and Roundhay Park who joined us to either run or volunteer.
The local running clubs around West Leeds also turned out to support Bramley parkrun, the most enjoyable part being Pudsey and Bramley athletics club brought along 18 of their juniors to run the event. One day we hope to see one of them in the Great Britain team at the Olympics.
This week, event director Graham Fisher was run director for the day. He did a great job and thanked the local councillors Kevin Ritchie and Fiona Venters , who were instrumental in getting Bramley parkrun off the ground.
Out on the course Gregan Clarkson was 1st over the line in 16:57 followed by Connor Craig-Jackson in 17:09, and the 3rd male over the was Neil Armitage in a time of 17:50.
1st female over the line was Dawn Broom in a time of 22:25, 2nd female over the line was Carrol Dudley in a time of 23:16 and 3rd female was Alison Smith in a time of 23:59.
Special mentions this week go out to James Vickers and Thomas Gatehouse who both completed their 150th parkrun, which is a fantastic achievement. Matthew Hick also completed his 50th parkrun, welcome to the 50 club Matthew.
parkrun/Feedback so far has already been brilliant and it was great to receive so much support and thanks. We would like to say a massive thankyou to everybody who has made Bramley parkrun happen. Please remember that parkrun is managed entirely by volunteers, so put your name down on the list and get involved, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!
Next Week your RD is Andrew Groves
See you all next Saturday morning
