Our run report is finally back after a summer holiday! I hope you haven’t missed our cheery updates about Bramley parkrun too much and have enjoyed parkrunning over the summer!
We had 141 runners this week – well done to all for completing the course whether you ran, walked or crawled! There were lots of new faces, with 7 participants who were new to parkrun and 17 runners who were new to Bramley. This week there were an incredible 37 new personal bests, over a quarter of all runners! This week we had representatives from 17 different running groups - it's great to see runners coming from clubs all over Leeds and beyond to support our event. The largest turnout was once again from local club Bramley Breezers. Thank you Breezers for your consistent support of Bramley parkrun.
Leading the way for the men was Chris SMITH of Leeds City AC in 17:39. Second was Tim PATTERSON in 19:13. Third across the line was Jon HOLAH in 19:54 (a new PB) ofPudsey & Bramley AC. Lesley CONNORS of Vegan Runners was the first lady across the line in a time of 24:06. Second lady was Kathryn FIELDING, running unattached in 25:23. Third was Zara MADDEN in 26:33. All three ladies achieved a new personal best! Well done!
We received some lovely positive feedback on Facebook this week from one of our new parkrunners. ‘Today was my first parkrun visit and wanted to thank everyone for being so friendly and supportive’ We love to hear from you, so don’t hesitate to contact us through the parkrun website or through our Facebook group pages (and join the Bramley Park 5k group to see parkrun photos by resident photographer Simon Cullingworth!)
Participating in your local parkrun could inspire you to try other local events. Big congratulations to parkrun regulars David SEMMENCE, Paul HOLLINGS, Paul BENNETT, Carl HEARN and Ashley GRINDROD for their performances at Go Tri Bramley Triathlon this weekend – brilliant results all round. Next weekend, parkrun regulars Andrea WHITING (running for HOOP) and David SEMMENCE (running for The Dogs Trust) will be digging deep and running the Great North Run! On behalf of the Bramley parkrun team we wish you both the very best of luck!
We urgently need volunteers to support both parkrun and junior parkrun (which takes place on Sunday morning and is open to 4 – 14 year olds.) There are lots of different roles from marshaling to run report writing, so if you can spare a couple of hours on either morning to help it greatly appreciated.
Each week after parkrun, we go down to The Old Unicorn opposite Bramley Shopping Centre for a well earned breakfast whilst the volunteers process the results (and make sure we have all the finishing tokens back!) Feel free to come along, see how the results are processed and meet the team.
Well done everyone, have a great week and look forward to seeing you next parkrunday!
