Braunstone parkrun 12/03/16 #281

What a fabulous parkrun morning! We had a HUGE new attendance record today, including over 100 first timers brand new to parkrun! This week we welcomed a fantastic number of couch to 5k 'graduates' who came, they saw and they conquered!! Massive congratulations to you all!

Special shout out to Birstall running club and Team Anstey who brought the biggest groups of newbies. As usual, in true Braunstone tradition, their success was celebrated by copious amounts of cake, loads of cheers and great support from fellow runners.

Speaking of cake, the fabulous Beaumont bakers flung open the flour, cracked a few eggs and raided the chocolate stash to celebrate fellow runner Rob Holt's 100th parkrun, ensuring that just enough calories were consumed to make up for those 5 arduous kilometres....about 5 pieces of cake, right?!

Gary the frothy coffee man almost got a repetitive strain injury keeping up with the tea and coffee needed to wash down those carbs. Must have been a record for him too!

For those of you who like stats, here they are:

Daniel ALLINSON (SM25-29) of Leicester Coritanian AC, was first over the line in 17:16 - 6th time in 16 appearances.
Geoff ROBERTS (SM30-34) of Anstey Amblers and Runners, was second over the line in 17:20 - was first to finish once before.
Karl WILKINS (SM25-29) of Beaumont RC, was third over the line in 17:33.

Female placings:
Vickie HALLAM (VW40-44) of West End Runners, was first (30th overall) over the line in 20:29 - 9th time in 200 appearances.
Laura HARTWELL (SW30-34) (Unattached) was second (41st overall) over the line in 21:09.
Katie PARKER (JW11-14) of Beaumont RC, was third (58th overall) over the line in 22:14.

Of course, today's success couldn't be done without our awesome team of volunteers, so a huge massive thank you to them all. If anyone would like to volunteer for the forthcoming weeks, please email us at braunstonehelpers@parkrun.com or message us on the Facebook page.

We will try to book some more great weather for next week too! See you all on Saturday. Don't forget your barcodes!
