Brockenhurst parkrun event # 325 – 12th October 2019

Despite the rain there were 172 people who ran, jogged and walked our sheltered course. We welcomed 36 first timers and representatives of 24 different clubs took part.

The rain contributed to issues with the finish tokens after finisher 150 so if your time is vastly incorrect please email brockenhursthelpers@parkrun.com with your barcode number and correct finish position and/or time and we'll try to update your result.

Congratulations to the 15 who recorded new Personal Bests and to M20 Harry Smith of Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers RC who led the field home for the second time in an impressive 16:55 and W30 Alice Rudd of Hardley Runners who led the ladies home for an even more impressive 31st time.

Both First Finishers however were beaten convincingly on Age Grade scoring by W70 Barbara Walton of Lymington Triathlon Club who scored 84.77%. Barbara has 9 International Triathlon medals to her name so is well used to being top of the podium.

M15 Arthur Lomax was again the first Junior male in 22:06 and Josie Coggins of Lymington Athletes and Amelia Murphy of New Forest Runners were the leading Junior females having chatted together the whole way!

There were two unofficial Milestone runs today with regular Philip Duddell on 150 and my wife Jan recording her 200th:

Jan 200

Philip easily wins the Loyalty Award as he has run 149 times at Brock while Jan has been a parkrun tourist at over 50 different parkruns.

One of our first time visitors, Malcolm Price now of Lordshill Runners, is a very infrequent parkrunner having run only 35 since his first 9 years ago! Malcolm is better known as 'Mr RR10' as he has been the mainstay of our local summer off road race series which has grown to be one of the most successful evening Leagues in the country:

Brock 325 Malcolm Price

Please consider volunteering at least 3 times a year as there are many roles which still allow you to run.

Brockenhurst parkrun event #317 – 17th August 2019

Uncanny!! For the third week in succession we had precisely 112 people who ran or jogged the course on another perfect morning. The overnight rain had stopped along with the gale force winds and although the grass was damp it wasn't too soft. We welcomed 41 first timers with visitors from across the UK including a very fast group from the Brighton area. Representatives of 28 different clubs took part.

Congratulations to the 10 who recorded new Personal Bests and to Reuben Hoyte of Brighton Phoenix who ran a PB 17:28 to lead Phill Stevenson of Brighton and Hove City AC home by just 10 seconds. The ladies were led home by two Arena 80 AC speed merchants with W45 Caroline Hoyte and clubmate W20 Maisie Trafford crossing the line together in 19:23.

Caroline already holds our W40 record in 18:05 and today added the W45 Record as well as setting the highest Age Grade score with an impressive 85.47%. Their 'cool down' was several speedy laps which included collecting our course stakes. Thank you ladies.

parkrun is not just about fast times and we were treated to several Milestone runs today. The only 'official' Milestone was run by M10 Will Bulmer who set a new PB to celebrate joining the Junior 10 Club. Will also gets a loyalty award as all 10 have been run at Brock.

One of our core volunteers W11 Amelia Murphy is even more loyal as 165 of her 200 parkruns have been at Brock along with 40 much appreciated Volunteer days.

Amelia Murphy 200

The Finch family from Croydon were out in force and father Nigel ran a PB today on his 300th parkrun along with M11 Christopher who ran his 200th. Netley Abbey 03 Aug 19

Congratulations to the 16 who recorded new Personal Bests and to first time vistor Daniel Sullivan from Mole Valley parkrun who led the field home with a parkrun PB of 17:32 and to Alice Rudd of Hardley Runners who led the ladies home for the 30th time. Alice was only 2 seconds outside 20 minutes but that still pales against her Wilverley PB of 16:59, set however with the aid of a very athletic dog!

Both First Finishers were beaten on Age Grade scoring by W70 Rosemarie Osborn of New Forest Runners who set 76.32% despite not being totally fit.

Two of our first time visitors celebrated different Milestone runs today with Stephen Hancock from Scunthorpe parkrun joining the 100 Club, only 46 seconds from his alltime PB set on the flat tarmac paths in Scunthorpe:

Our other Milestone runner comes from much closer as Ian Booth runs for Netley Abbey Runners which parkrun claims is only 10.6 miles away (by a water crossing!). Ian and his club mates celebrated his 50th parkrun.

Brockenhurst parkrun event #314 – 27th July 2019

We were once again fortunate with the weather as the early morning rain stopped to provide perfect conditions for the 157 people who ran, jogged and walked the course. With the good weather and the school holidays we welcomed a huge 70 first timers from across the UK with representatives of 28 different clubs taking part.

Congratulations to the 23 who recorded new Personal Bests and to M15 Jasper Todd of Bournemouth AC who set a new parkrun PB of 17:55 to lead the field home for the 2nd time and to Debbie Hulme of New Forest Runners who led the ladies home for the 3rd time.

Both First Finishers were beaten on Age Grade scoring however by first time W65 visitor Ann-Marie Jones of Macclesfield Harriers who ran an impressive 22:58 to set our third highest score of 89.62% and beat her last two parkrun times set in Valloskogen parkrun in Sweden.

New Forest Runners provided two Milestone runners with Frank Handy, our equal top First Finisher on 36 times as first home, hitting the unofficial 200 Milestone and Caroline Pemberton getting the loyalty award for all 50 at Brock.
