Burnham and Highbridge parkrun #220 14.09.2019

What a gorgeous September day for a parkrun, a stillness in the air and a high tide made the lake and river look stunning today. Not so good for the Burnham-on-Sea Kite Festival taking place on the beach.

A great turnout of 380 today, boosted by tourists from Cornwall, Portsmouth, Aylesbury, Gatwick, Doncaster, Nottingham, Swansea, Lincoln, Cambridge and I'm sure lots of other places across the whole country... the parkrun community is great for being able to turn up anywhere to run. Special mention to Hugh Ridgeway who normally runs at Houghton hall parkrun, who did his 50th parkrun at Burnham and Highbridge as a first timer, and beat his overall parkrun PB with a great 21:28 (VM60-64 age group!). We had quite a few runners showing off their new GNR (Great North Run) T-shirts today!

Celebrating her 100th parkrun today was Tina Burrows, a regular runner and volunteer at our parkrun. Congratulations and I like the 100 cape!  Wear your 100 T-shirt with pride.

We also had a quartet of runners completing their 50th parkrun, Hugh Ridgeway (mentioned above), Joan Shiles, Paul Kuht, and Katie Smith, well done to you all.  Congratulations also to Grace Baker for completing her 10th parkrun as a junior with a new PB!

Well done to Georgina who did a great job as her first Run Director role. IMG_1804

First over the line today saw the return of Bill Bailey. IMG_2028

First lady was Sophie McKeeman a first timer from Fulham RC, hope you enjoyed our course.

Marko Nurimen was our highest age graded runner today with 80.85% in second place overall.

Well done to everyone who took part, especially the 23 people doing their first ever parkrun, hope to see you again. IMG_1931
