As the Rugby World Cup commenced in Japan this weekend and fixtures are played out in the early hours of the morning, Burnham and Highbridge parkrun welcomed 382 early risers for its 221st event. Our parkrun had no oval balls, rucks or mauls, although some runners may describe our start akin to a scrum it begins with a narrow path; nevertheless, everyone set off and returned celebrating another successful 5km.
Among our attendees it was 100-up for two of our stalwarts. Paul Tomlinson (154th in 26:55) and Tracey Benton (170th in 27:40) and Angela Clark (324th in 36:21) all celebrated a century of parkruns. Congratulations to you all, and a big thank you to Paul as he completed his run as a volunteer pacer. Tracey is a core member and regular volunteer, organising the weekly roster consistently filling many of the required roles (when she's not running), helping to make this parkrun such a success. If you can volunteer at one of our future events please contact email@example.com.
Congratulations to our first runner home, Ben Maliphant, in an impressive time of 16:24, whilst Joanna Rich was our first lady home in 21:24, 31st overall. To all our visitors, regulars, club runners and those participating for the first time or just for fun, we hope you all enjoyed today's event, run on very a pleasant September Saturday morning.
