A lovely sunny day saw a great turnout for today's parkrun - Spring is here at last!
All of our volunteers today were NHS people, so thanks very much to them. Most of them had never volunteered at a parkrun before - in fact many of them had never been to a parkrun before! It says a lot for how straightforward the parkrun volunteer roles are - anyone can learn to do any of the roles on the day. So if apprehension about not being able to do any of the roles was preventing you from volunteering, there's no need - please email email@example.com if you can help in future.
You'll also have noticed the great information and atrial fibrillation testing stall which attracted great interest, not just because of the free fruit! There were also rumours of a bear at large in the park, this has been reported to the park rangers
If you want to know more about the MyWiSH "Every Heart Matters" appeal, or donate, use this link: http://mywishcharity.wsh.nhs.uk/Charity/Campaigns/EveryHeartMatters.aspx The MyWiSH folks will be around at next week's parkrun (event 250!) if you didn't get a chance to speak to them today.
Also, as I mentioned, today is my last as Run Director. It's been a great 5 years! I'll still be running or volunteering most weeks, as I really love Bury St Edmunds parkrun.
Congratulations to Katie Pearce-Higgins who completed her 10th parkrun today, and to Dean Hill and Ian Doggett who completed their 50th parkruns.
