Run Report Event No 819 – 14 December 2019

Let's Get This Parkrun Done!

Whether we awoke disappointed, elated or indifferent to the previous day's election results, even grey skies and slippery conditions provided the perfect pick-me-up for those wanting to forget all about politics for at least an hour or two!

Mob Match

Today's 1259 field was given a boost to the tune of 83 runners due to a mob match that was taking place between the Thames Turbo Triathlon and the Ful-On-Tri clubs. This is a friendly annual gathering (you may have spotted them sharing mince pies and mulled wine after the run), and is scored by ordering all participants by finish time, with top points going to the first finisher, down to 1 point for the last finisher.

The 44 runners of Thames Turbo edged the match (reversing the result from previous years) by 1833 points to Ful-On-Tri's 1653, which was largely thanks to the 528 points contributed by 13 runners from the excellent junior section of the Turbo's. In fact top scorer was junior triathlete Jonny Brook (7th place with a time of 17:18).

PB's!

Despite the slippery conditions, 67 of you managed a PB today; Many congratulations to Charles Clifford who beat a 7.5 year old PB on his 169th Bushy Parkrun

Although not a PB, Shaef Shifter Tom Parmiter's performance deserves a special mention; He was celebrating his 34th birthday, and completed his 2nd parkrun since being diagnosed with a severe case of miopericarditis, which led to advise that he may never be able to run competitively again. This time last year Tom struggled to walk for 20 minutes, but his perseverance led to him achieving a speedy 19:34 today. Many congratulations!
