Event 142 Report – 13^th November

Large numbers despite a soggy start
 

Today, we had 231 finishers; among them we had 50 PBs and 20 first timers.

Since Cardiff parkrun started back in February 2008, we’ve had 2833 runners from 178 different clubs complete the race 15905 times covering a distance of 79525 kilometers.

 
In the men’s race, the initial lead was taken by Ed Takata (Cardiff AAC) crossing the 1km mark. A large group massed behind him, led by Jerome Edwards (Les Croupiers) and Oliver M Williams (Unattached). Behind them were Lewys Winfield Young (Unattached), Ed Donavan (Les Croupiers) and Lian Davies (Islwyn RC). Andrew Mark Reynolds (Port Talbot Harriers & AC) and Tom Davis (Unattached) were not far behind, ahead of another group led by Nick Dukes (Les Croupiers).

Coming back through the field towards the 4km mark, Jerome Edwards had taken the lead ahead of Lewys and Ed Donovan, with Stuart Crees (Les Croupiers) in front of Lian Davies and Andrew Mark Reynolds. In the last few hundred metres, Jerome stretched his legs and finished strongly over Ed, who managed to overtake Lewys. It was Jerome’s first win on his 10th appearance. Lian had gone past Stuart to take 4^th place. Andrew managed to keep his lead over Richard to take 6^th place, and Oliver M Williams finished strongly to beat Ed Takata to the line to take 8^th. Matthew Hurford (Les Croupiers) crossed the line in 10^th, and Rob Sage (Les Croupiers) finished 11^th despite starting nearer the midfield than the front. Behind Rob, in 12^th and 13^th, were Cardiff parkrun first timers; Ryan Hillier-Smith (Unattached) and Chris Fulcher (Port Talbot Harriers & AC).

A bit further back, Glyn Sansom (San Domenico) finished in 18:10 for the second consecutive week, ahead of Richard Self (Les Croupiers) who took 18^th place. There were also improvements from James Potts (San Domenico) and Wanye Beynon (Unattached) who finished in 26^th and 29^th positions respectively.
