After a week of speculation, Cardiff parkrun’s family grows to over 4000 participants.

Today, we had 261 finishers (and 37 volunteers); among them we had 72 PBs, a whopping 34 first timers and representatives of 27 different athletics clubs.
Since Cardiff parkrun started back in February 2008, we’ve had 4005 runners from 236 different clubs complete the race 25,442 times covering a distance of 127,210 km.

In the men’s race, Matthew EDWARDS (Barry & Vale Harriers) won on his first appearance in a time of 16:24. Matthew GURMIN (Swansea Harriers AC) took second by 16 seconds, recording 16:40. Michael WARD, (Cardiff AAC) placed third in a time of 16:45, reducing his previous best time by 23 seconds.

In the women’s race, Hannah MCBROWN (Outdoor Fitness Running Club) recorded her second victory in a time of 19:53, one second off a PB. Hannah beat Nicky MCWILLIAM (Les Croupiers) by 20 seconds recording 20:13, who finished with a PB in the process. Liz DAVIES, (Cardiff AAC) placed third in a time of 20:23.

In the points competition, Mark RICHMOND narrowly leads over Richard WILDER by 42 points. It looks like a two horse race, with Oliver M WILLIAMS over 500 points behind them. Sally WILDER is currently top of the women’s competition, with Patricia JONES and Dawn LAU competing hard for second place.
