Christmas Day @ Cardiff parkrun

Hi All

Just to let you know that there will be an extra Cardiff parkrun on Christmas Day, it will be the usual 9.00am. Please come along in your Christmas gear.

Cardiff parkrun Temporary Course

Due to the disruption in the park caused by the Nato summit, the Council have requested that we move to an alternative course for a few weeks.

This will mean that we are moving over to Pontcanna Fields for
Saturday 30th August
Saturday 6th September
Saturday 13th September.

We have used this course once before when the Olympic Tourch was in Cardiff , we will need to make sure that there are enough volunteers out on the course especially around the Sofia Gardens area as well as at the finish.

Please park as normal, do not try to park in Pontcanna Fields - unless you are using the changing rooms carpark off Field View Rd.

Christmas Day 2013

Hi Guys'

Just to confirm that there will be a Cardiff parkrun on Christmas Day, it will be the usual start time of 9.00am. So we invite you to join us and kick off your festivities with a gentle stroll around the park.

Cardiff parkrun Saturday 19th January ~ Re: Snow

My intention in the morning is to turn up at the start as normal, as long as the path is not icy then we will be going ahead, I intend to take the same approach as in the past ~ as long as I deem the path is runnable the event will go ahead, but the runners will be told that it is their choice and that if they are not happy then don't run. The message will be the course is Runable but not Raceable!!!

Festive Running at Cardiff parkrun

With time counting down to the Festive period, here are the details for our runs at Cardiff parkrun :

Saturday 22nd December          Santa/Festive Run       9.00am  as usual

Christmas Day                           Extra Run starting at 9.00am

Saturday 29th December          normal Saturday parkrun

New Years Day                         Extra Run starting at 9.00am

This behaviour is not acceptable from any of our runners, and anyone found to be acting in such a way will not be welcomed along to our events.

It has also been brought to my attention that some of the faster guys barged one of our spectators who wasn't even walking on the path. Also, a group going back out on a Warm Down pushed the spectator off the path.

Please have the decency to apologize, or if you are identified you will be asked not to return.

We don't ask much of you, but we do ask ~ and it is mentioned every week in the briefing that you give way to other park users, we don't have exclusive use of the paths and to make sure that you leave enough room for other park users to pass.

If you don't listen and help us it won't be the Council closing the event down, I'll make that decision myself!!

So if you want to help us to continue the event then please follow these simple requests :

•         The path in the Start and Finish area must be kept clear at all times.

•         Be aware of other Park users ~ we don't have exclusive use of the paths.

•         Make sure others can pass, don't take up the whole path.

•         Dogs must be on a lead and under control at all times.

•         Wearing headphones is not recommended, but if you do, then one ear only.

•         Run on the Right Hand Side, even on your Warm Down

•         Return your Finishing disc, we need them every week

•         Just to remind you that you take part at your own risk, if you have any issues or concerns then do not run.

If you are missing from the Results and you know what position you finished, or who you were near please let me know and I'll make the adjustments needed.
