Between now and parkrun on Sat 14th December, we will be collecting for the Foodbank. If you are able, and would like to contribute, please bring items to parkrun over the next 5 weeks.
You can find a comprehensive list of items they need HERE but they have told us that they are always in need of the following:
Tinned meat and fish
Packet mash and tinned potatoes
Long life milk
If you have any surplus Bags For Life, they would also be gratefully received and as it's approaching Christmas, some seasonal items would be lovely.
Thanks in advance!
Once again we will be putting on extra events on both Christmas and New Year's Day. We will start at 9am on both days - our friends at Penrith start at 10.30am on Jan 1st allowing those who want to the chance to do the New Year's Day Double.
As always, we can't run without our wonderful volunteers - please get in touch if you'd like to help out on either date.
This Saturday we're going to be collecting for Carlisle Foodbank and The Red Box Project. It would be great if you would consider bringing a donation for either.
Suggested items for both are listed below:
Christmas items (selection boxes, Christmas cake etc)
Tinned rice pudding
Milk (UHT or powdered)
Custard (tinned or powdered)
Tinned sponge pudding
Red Box Project
Normal sanitary towels with wings
Night time sanitary towels
Packs of knickers (sizes 6-16)
Links to both organisations can be found below:

Thanks in advance for your generosity.
We're rapidly hurtling towards December which means its time to tell you of our plans for the festive period. Christmas and New Year's Days are the only time we can hold parkrun outside of a Saturday and we're pleased to say that this year we will have an event on both days - starting at 9am as usual.
In addition, New Year's Day enables parkrunners to do the double, with local events adjusting start times to allow for travel between the two. For the third year in a row, our friends at Keswick will start at 1030am. (This is the bit where we remind you about driving sensibly between Carlisle and Keswick!)
Obviously these events can only go ahead with the support of our volunteers so do get in touch if you'd like to be part of the festive fun!
We at Carlisle parkrun are very lucky to have such a good relationship with the community around Chance's Park. Unfortunately, now and again this has been tested due to some of our runners parking inconsiderately on Wigton Road which has lead to verbal complaints and we have now received (via Morton Manor) another.
With this in mind, we are now asking you NOT to park across from the park on Wigton Road (whether you're parked carefully or not) and make use of the ample parking either in the car park, or elsewhere around the park. Don't forget, parkrun actively encourages the use of public transport and your own foot (or pedal) power to get to
Please note - if people are seen to be parking on Wigton Road, we will be asking them to move which could lead to people missing the start of the run.
Thank you for your help in this matter. And please park responsibly!
After last week's unfortunate turn of events we will be back on tomorrow!
A few things to take note of...
1. We will be running the 5 lap course this week for obvious reasons!
2. The car park is out of bounds. There are flood supplies containers in the car park and the manor have asked if we can park sensibly and safely on the surrounding roads. PLEASE NO BLOCKING OF ANYONE'S DRIVEWAYS. Also please consider car-sharing or jogging up.
3. We will be accepting food and supplies donations for victims of the floods in the morning if you wish to bring anything along.
See you all in the morning!
Unfortunately we've taken the decision to cancel tomorrow's parkrun. Due the high winds and the soft ground in the park there is a risk of more trees coming down.
This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and the safety of our runners is paramount.
Tickets will be on sale from Saturday. Get them while you can!
We're pleased to confirm that as in previous years, there will be both a Christmas Day & New Year's Day parkrun in Chances Park.
Both runs will start at the usual time of 9am.
Take a look at the parkrun Christmas Compendium to see which other parkruns are on. Perfect if you're going to be away visiting family and friends!
Morning everyone. Unfortunately we are having to cancel parkrun on both June 20th (Manor Fest is taking place in the park) and July 11th (there is a 10am wedding).
If you need your parkrun fix, Workington, Penrith, Keswick, Fell Foot and Barrow are the other Cumbrian parkruns that would welcome you with open arms!
