6 years ago, Carrick parkrun had its very first outing with 106 folks joining us to run, jog and walk around the *ahem* numerous twists and turns.... Today, 125 lovely people did the same thing, with 14 people joining us for the first time - come back next week, you are all VERY welcome! 15 of the participants this morning achieved a personal best, and one of our youngest runners most certainly earned her post-parkrun treat (well done, Maia!). Of course, none of this would have been possible had it not been for the 11 kind folks who helped us out, to whom we say a HUGE thank you:
Karen TOPPING • Emma BARCLAY • Marian MACH • Karen MCILROY • Colin MURDY • Ally LAVERTY • Karen MAGILL • David CRAWFORD • Kathryn PATTERSON • Charley WRAY • Naomi ALLEN
Special thank you to Emma and Charley, our Event Directors, who work hard in the background each week (more than folk realise) to ensure the event goes ahead, and this week provided cake - lots of cake! A big shout out also to Marian Mach, who arrives early every week, regardless of the weather, to set up the finish for us, also Karen Magill, who is there every week with your finish tokens or barcode scanner, then sorts the tokens ready for next week. Small tasks, making a big difference and making parkrun happen... for YOU.
EVERYONE is welcome at parkrun, just register online, print your barcode and join us on Saturday at 9.30 - run, jog or walk, it is entirely up to you. PLEASE note that we cannot scan barcodes on phones, no matter what we do - the scanning devices are simply not powerful enough; parkrun direction to ALL events is that a printed barcode MUST be presented for us to record a time. Not our rule, a parkrun rule.
