Has spring arrived?

After what seems like weeks of storms, rain, wind, and hope of at least a dry day - finally we had a cracker day! A hint of spring at last, a week before the clocks spring forward an hour.

Of course, the big question on parkrunner's minds is: are the events continuing during the current health issue? The simple answer is yes, we are continuing at the present time. All parkrun events in Ireland have been cancelled until the end of March, so do not travel. However, all events in NI are continuing. Should that situation change, we will post here, on Facebook and Twitter. Please do keep in mind the advice from the health services in order to reduce risk of transmission - and be very mindful of potentially vulnerable participants (we have a number of people who have asthma and/or other serious underlying health conditions).

This week, we asked Marian how many he thought were at the start - he is incredibly accurate in his estimation, and guessed 74. The actual figure was 78 participants, including 7 first timers and 12 people who recorded a PB (well done). Of course, it would not have happened if there were no volunteers - a BIG thank you to the 12 kind souls who helped us out this week with a full roster: Bobbie IRVINE (who ran an amazing 330 km in 52 hours last week during 'The Tunnel' Ultra!)Lorraine Ann FORSYTHEEmma BARCLAY Marian MACH - who sets up for us every week, and is the lovely chap who ensures you get a time - say thanks as you pass him!Ally LAVERTYCiara MCKAYDavid CRAWFORDCharley WRAYGareth GREENAWAYDarren MURPHYKaren TOPPINGStephanie MCKILLEN

We need volunteers every week to make it happen. PLEASE help us, it is not difficult to do, and you will be really appreciated. Just let us know at any event, or email us: carrickfergus@parkrun.com.
