Good evening everyone, this week's parkrun was a another beautiful day. We said hello to Pawel our new pop-up coffee vendor who should be attending Castle Park every Saturday hopefully you'll all enjoy this in the coming weeks.
This week 331 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 43 were first timers and 33 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.
Please make sure that you continue to bring water and sun screen with you during this extreme weather.
Saturday's event was made possible by 25 volunteers:
Megan EVANS • Peter BEATTY • Victoria MADDOX • Kevin WATSON • Melanie WATSON • Ben PICKFORD • Grace CADZOW • Claire CADZOW • Sunny NEAL • Natasha SPILLER • Kobus SMITH • Patricia POOLE • Lee BOSWELL • Graham SMITH • Andrew ARNOLD • Clare ARNOLD • Andrew TURVEY • Debbi COLLINS • Claire BOYLAN • Paula FROST • Kirsten SMITH • Harry LINES • Jacob COLLINS • Archie MACLEOD • Simon GARDNER
Castle Park parkrun started on 30th September 2017. Since then 2,597 participants have completed 12,004 parkruns covering a total distance of 60,020 km, including 2,375 new Personal Bests.
This week's results can be found on the Castle Park results page
I would like to remind everyone that we do not have priority over other park users and have been very disappointed that we received our first official complaints from other park users this week, including one incident when a runner is alleged to have swung a kick at a dog on the park! And another example of bad language being used during an incident! Neither of these are acceptable and for us to continue using the park, especially the path areas we need to be considerate and courteous to other users of the park.
On a jollier note we had a few runners with key milestones: Stefan Milkowski completed his 100th run, Sarah Beeston and Rachel Turvey completed their 50th runs, and our junior Sebby Armstrong completed her 10th run.
A special mention also need to go to Kobus Smith who completed not only his 25th volunteering event, but his 25th consecutive volunteering event. Another mention also must go to Megan Evans (who regularly volunteers) but knew we were short of scanner to finished first so she could start scanning other runners.
Next Week I hand over the Run Director jacket to Julie.
Core Team: Kevin, Chris, Francesca, Alastair, Chris, Joanne, Tory, Grace, Luke, Oliver, Julie, Phily, Melanie, Ellen and Ben.
