Catton parkrun #315 “Happy Buffday and Boardgames”

Catton parkrun #315 “Happy Buffday and Boardgames”

This week 334 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 17 were first timers and 66 recorded new Personal Bests! We had tourists from Colchester and we hope you enjoyed the course.

It was – obviously – our 6th birthday and we were pleased to see so many of you in fancy dress. The theme was “T”. So thanks muchly!

The highlight of our birthday was us being given “Catton parkrun – The board game!. We are so enamored with this we’re going to tell parkrun HQ! Take a look at this pic! (Shamelessly pinched from Rose’s Instagram feed!) The event was made possible by 33 volunteers: Gill THOMAS • Sally CUSHING • Lucy FLEMING • Dan GOODWIN • Lynn TATE • Ian EDWARDS • Scott CHAPMAN • Gary GRAND • James BISHOP • David PARKER • Shelley AMES • Nick GIBBS • Jill GIBBS • Brett CORNISH • Kyra CORNISH • Kiara HAMIS • Jeya KANDOLA • Elizabeth HALFORD • Olivia CHAPMAN • Melanie MANSON • Tom FLEMING • Lara FLEMING • Robert HOWE • David HENDER • Miranda ELLIS • Robert ORGAN • Jane WILLIAMS • Shirley ROSE • Kerrie ROSE • Robin TAYLOR • Leon REUBEN • Andrew G GREY • Gordon MURRAY

Remember that we’ve got a rare cancellation on 26th October so the Catton Trust can set up for Sparks in the Park. I’ll be heading to our pals at Lingwood, but I think a lot of us will be visiting Sloughbottom where the lovely Miranda (who you may have seen as our Turd this past week) is an Event Director.  We also have Catton favourites Radley Fenn and family as well as Ben Kendall and family all involved in the core team over there.

The park is starting to take on some wintery aspects now, one of those being its starting to get just a wee bit muddy and slippery. With all the rain we’ve had this week it will be even more so. While Matt works miracles with water drainage, consider your footwear and if it’s time to be charging for a PB.

Catton parkrun started on 5th October 2013. Since then 9,206 participants have completed 84,994 parkruns covering a total distance of 424,970 km, including 14,555 new Personal Bests. A total of 898 individuals have volunteered 6,848 times.

See you Saturday where we have Andy and Theresa as your RD’s for the week!
