Run Report 25/10/14 Event #18

Well done to everyone for completing the course today, conditions under foot were just a little muddy! I normally do the results while the boys clear up but today I was covered in mud (yes I got to run again), was freezing cold, hungry and worst of all… wet and muddy feet – so I wanted to get home and jump in a red hot shower, the water was black. Most importantly I needed to get my trainers in the wash ASAP before my OCD went into overdrive about them still being in the bag, the thought of the mud!!!

At this point a massive thank you to the volunteers for cheering everyone on and also getting muddy: Sam Blacow, Dave Cochrane, Clare Evans, Catherine and Charlie Johnston, Darren Nelson-Hall, Annabel Trask, Jo Trask, Lesley Walker, Steve Ward & Louisa Wilkinson.

The bridge was alive today with the music and shakers, Annabel, Jo, Catherine and Charlie did a fantastic job as usual. Run Director Dave Cochrane had a lovely little helper today, Deputy Run Director/Finish Marshal Louisa. Next week Louisa will be joining myself as Run Director, us girls are going to have fun – why not volunteer and join us? We are looking for a barcode scanner (can be after you have ran if you do 24 minutes or less), marshals for the bridge and possibly another timekeeper.

We had 2 PB’s today, junior runner Ben Robinson who has completed 25 parkruns, 2 of which are at Cheadle Hulme. Stewart McCombe was our second PB today, having completed a staggering 96 parkruns (nearly at the 100 club) 3 of which were at Cheadle Hulme – he tweeted last night that he wasn’t too sure which parkrun to do today as there is so much choice in the Stockport area, bet he’s glad he chose us today to pick up a PB. Well done to you both, especially in the conditions we had today.

Mark Godden was presented with his 50 club t-shirt today, there is still a backlog at parkrun HQ for anyone else that is still awaiting their club t-shirts, we are sorry about this as we know how exciting it is one you reach the milestone for a t-shirt. As soon as we get any in we will announce them on Facebook/twitter. If anyone is close to completing your running club milestones (10 for juniors only and then 50, 100, 250), please do let us know if you have a special run coming up so we can celebrate it with you.

Our rota for November and December is currently empty, if you are able to volunteer do get in touch via Facebook, twitter or email cheadlehulmehelpers@parkrun.com

Just to finish on some good news I want to share with our runners and volunteers, as most of you know I have been injured since February this year and only recently have I been allowed to start gently running as part of my knee rehab. I started by doing 1 lap of the course and have slowly increased it, managing to complete the course 4 times now. Yesterday my amazing physio Jo discharged me from knee rehab and I can start getting back to where I used to be! Hopefully I will get to do the Manchester 10k in May and many more parkruns J Thank you everyone for your continued support, I really appreciate you all cheering me round the course as my strength and fitness has disappeared and I do find it a struggle sometimes.

See you all next week,

Sam Blacow
