Run Report for Event #353

The summer returned in force this week ready for the late August Bank Holiday weekend.
Mind you, the morning dew meant we had wet feet for the set up but it was done with a smile.

A day in the life...
I am token #0156 and my day started off by being together with all my friends in the splendidly unique token box ready for my one function in life, which is to make a parkrunner happy by giving them a time for their efforts on parkrunday.

WK #353 (621)

The day started off fantastically well and I was so excited, there was a great buzz of anticipation in the token box, the weather was amazing and I could hear that we were being transported across the park to the finish area.

After we waited a while it was our turn to to be presented to parkrun world, out of the bag, box onto the table, lid slid off, and we could smell the grass and feel the warmth on our little barcode stripes. We joined our best friend the "PB bell", now he has a great parkrun job, lifted up, shaken about and making a lot of noise. But that's OK, if he is busy, parkrunners are happy, and that makes me happy as well.

Peeping over the top of our box we could see that lots of parkrunners were in the park and the chatter was reaching a crescendo of noise, so exciting!

Then the announcements were done and the runners were set off, it was like a herd of wildebeast thundering along the ground making our little table shake and rattle.

We then found out who will be giving us out to the finishers and were so pleased when we found out it was Elizabeth and Samantha. This was Sam's first time so I think she was as excited as we were!
A bit of instruction to Sam & Elizabeth on how to handle us, so much nicer in female hands rather than those rough male hands, the first runners are coming in...funnel is filling up!

WK #353 (617)

I can feel my little barcode stripes standing up in excitement and anticipation.
Soon it will be my turn...#0153 Yay! a first timer...#0154...nearly me!...#0155 No PB bell ringing yet...It's me next, so exciting! YES I am in the hands of a parkrunner, my job is nearly done, now over to see the wonderful scanners so my runner can get a time for their efforts on such a warm day.

This seems to be taking a long time! Whoa, whoa, whoa...why are we going out of the park, that's not right, all my friends are calling for me, who are you and why are you doing this?
I only wanted to make you happy!

Why am in in Bond Street? Tea and cake at John Lewis maybe? It's not right, I shouldn't be here, oh no not at all!
Noooo! I am now on the floor, I could be trodden on, scrapped along or swept up.

Hey, I am being picked up, an eagle eyed parkrunner has found me and understands the importance of my role in parkrun, thankyou Louise you are my saviour!
I will be returned to my friends next week, but now I have a twin as the team had to replace me or the results would be wrong next week! But that's ok I will be back amongst my friends where I belong.
