Chester parkrun #186

Hello All,

It was the calm before the storm (if you are reading this on Sunday you’ll know what I mean) as we lined up to take on the footpaths and trails of the Countess of Chester Country Park. The trail section was vastly improved by the spreading of woodchip at the end of the trial section, we talk more about that in the run report below!

This week saw 429 of you take on the course this week, with an amazing We were joined by 59 first timers this week, 30 people running their first ever parkrun, with 29 parkrun “tourists” who had run elsewhere previously and were running at Chester for the first time. We hope to see you all again soon!

There was a huge 75 personal bests this week… we think that was down to the woodchip on the end of the trail section!  Well done to everyone who go a PB this week!

A special mention to Brian BEATTIE form West Cheshire AC on his 150th Chester parkrun and his 173rd in Total. Brian has been a parkrun regular with us since Chester parkrun No 1 on the 9th June 2016, having only missed 18 Chester parkruns that have taken place since that time.

We nearly have a full volunteer roster this week, we are just on the lookout for 2 marshals to make sure we have a successful parkruns on Saturday. This week we are looking for two people to help us out in and around the finish line, one handing out tokens in the role of Finish Tokens, and another person in the role of Finish Token Support.

Without our volunteers, parkrun would not happen, so a big thank you to the 30 people who give up their time to make parkrun happen.

Talking of your volunteers, before parkrun started on Saturday we were very lucky to be joined by some early morning volunteers, who had made their way to the Country Park to assist us with spreading some woodchip on the trail section.

Milestone alert!

Just a quick milestone note for you all… especially if you are a first timer coming to Chester parkrun this weekend. If you are the 29th first timer at Chester parkrun on Saturday you’ll be our 10,000th different finisher at Chester parkrun. So keep an eye out on next weeks parkrun report to see if you get a special mention!

Chester parkrun started on 9th July 2016. Since then 9,971 participants have completed 52,667 parkruns covering a total distance of 263,335 km, including 9,827 new Personal Bests. A total of 513 individuals have volunteered 3,529 times.

Our next parkrun is on 15th February 2020 at 9.00am.
