Chester parkrun 188

Hello All,

Another Saturday, another Chester parkrun and another storm to dodge! Well done to the 327 of you that attended Chester parkrun #188. Conditions were perfect for running. Although the wind was perhaps a little colder than some might have liked. As for the course, the trail section is bringing back memories of school cross country for some! Talking of Cross Country, some of our regular runners, were away this week at English National XC 2020 at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. Others were a little closer, making their way to Rhyl for the Rhyl 10 miler. Well done to all, whether you ran with us, or you were a little further away.

Back at Chester, we had 51 people make this week the first time the attended a parkrun at Chester, 7 of those first times were doing their first ever parkruns, while 44 were visiting Chester for the first time, having run at parkruns elsewhere previously.

Congratulations to all our milestone runners this week were:

10050

50 parkruns Richard CARMAN and Rebecca HULME

10 parkruns as a junior Leo CARMAN

Please take a look at our volunteer roster for opportunities to volunteer at Chester parkrun in the weeks ahead.
You can find a link to the roster here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/chester/futureroster/

We nearly have a full volunteer roster this week, we are just on the lookout for 5 marshals to make sure we have a successful parkrun on Saturday.

If you'd like to take a particular spot, simply email chesterhelpers@parkrun.com with your name and parkrun Barcode ID.

Without our volunteers, parkrun would not happen, so a big thank you to the 23 people who give up their time to make parkrun happen:

Edward AUSTIN, Barry BURNS, Steve COLLYER, Jonathan CURTIS, Helen DOLBY, Charlie ELDRED, Mark GALLAGHER, Beth HYNDS, Sam OLIVER, Kyla PARK, Deri PEERS, Nicola PERRINS, Charlotte POTTER, Jude PRINCE, Steve ROBERTS, Sophia ROBINSON, Gail SHEARER, Noel SHEARER, Noah ST HILL, Helen THOMAS, Ian WARRELL, Joy WILKINSON and Margaret WOODWARD

Help us celebrate female participation for #IWDparkrun

parkruns all over the world are joining in a celebration of female participation by hosting a special event on Saturday 7 March 2020, ahead of International Women’s Day the following day.

We would love you to join in the celebrations by bringing along a female friend, colleague or family member and walking, jogging, running or volunteering at your local parkrun. You could even just come along to watch or cheer.

parkrun events will be showing their support by encouraging as many women and girls as possible to participate as walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers with a suggested purple dress code for the day.

If you want to read more on this, then have a read of the parkrun blog!

Our next parkrun is on 29th February 2020 at 9.00am. Please note, that there won’t be another parkrun on the 29th February until the 29th February 2048. So if you are one of those people who like collecting parkrun milestones, running on Saturday 29th February is quite a rare one. It also means that you can run 5 parkruns in February.

Please don’t forget your barcode.
