#128. The first one of the New Year

A drizzly start didn't put off the 104 hardy runners who lined up at the start line this morning, representing 18 different athletic clubs. It's always great to have a lot of parkrun tourists, and the chance of a New Year's Day double always helps the numbers.

The Male placings for today were:
Jack PENFOLD (SM20-24) of Tone Zone Runners, was first over the line in 20:17 - first appearance.
Ian BARNETT (VM55-59) of Blackburn Harriers & AC, was second over the line in 20:34.
Ivan PRINCE (VM45-49) of Chichester Runners & AC, was third over the line in 20:48.

Female placings:
Sarah LOY (VW40-44) (Unattached) was first (5th overall) over the line in 21:19 - 54th time in 78 appearances.
Mel SEDDON (VW35-39) of Fareham Crusaders, was second (13th overall) over the line in 23:02.
Liana ZEGLOVSKIS (SW30-34) (Unattached) was third (16th overall) over the line in 23:15.

The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:
Ian BARNETT (VM55-59) was graded 75.36% for the time 20:34 (second overall).
Lillian DE LACY (VW80-84) was graded 72.79% for the time 37:29 (101st overall).
Sarah LOY (VW40-44) was graded 72.17% for the time 21:19 (5th overall).

This week there were 104 runners, of whom 26 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 18 different athletics clubs took part.

Of course parkrun can't happen without our amazing team of volunteers, who this morning were Amelia FIELD  •  Barry EAMES  •  Catherine CANNON  •  Chris HARAMIS  •  Geoff SUMNER  •  Ian ROBERTSON  •  James STANBRIDGE  •  Lis PESKETT  •  Liz STANLEIGH-TURNER  •  Louise FLUDE  •  Margaret ENSTONE  •  Martyn GREAVES  •  Matthew PESKETT  •  Peter FIELD  •  Steve WHITMEE

Aesthetically pleasing time of the week has to be Jack PENFOLD, who was first male over the line and first finisher in a time of 20:17, giving a relevant 01 01 20:17!

However, today's special award has to go to James LOY who ran a PB time of 37:11, knocking an amazing 10 minutes 47 seconds off his previous PB! Look out Sarah, you at risk of becoming only the second fastest Loy!

After Run Directing four events in eight days, I'm off for a lie down in a darkened room!
