Despite the warmth of the sun being felt on the inside of the windows, we all stepped outside to find the bitterly east wind had not abated. Some people reckon spring is here when certain plants or trees are starting to bloom, whilst others wait to see if any of the cross fitters running up the hill are shirtless or not. I did hear that some were disappointed they were not Love Island material!
For reasons unknown, I arrived early with the only people at the meeting place were our Hi-Viz heroes. However, it was not too long before people were emerging from all point of the compass to meet, chat with friends, warm up and wait for our illustrious Run Director, Lynette, to deliver the runners brief!
We were pleased to see many people had travelled far and wide to run on Saturday with representatives from
- Cambridge Triathlon Club
- Bishops Stortford RC
- Mornington Chasers
- Dulwich Runners
- Highgate Harriers
- Redway Runners
- Sutton Runners
- Denmead Striders
- Midhurst Milers
- Tone Zone
- Ealing Eagles
- Portsmouth Triathletes
- Sittingbourne Striders
- East Grinstead AC
- Road Runners
- Tuff Fitty
- And not forgetting Chi Runners and Chichester Canoe Club.
Saturday also saw 31 first timers to Chichester and we hope to see you again and you were not put off by our hill!
Not sure if this is a record or not, but 42 of you achieved new PBs! Well done.
Looking at the results, congratulations on Leo STIRZAKER for the only person to get a time bang on 25 minutes and no seconds!
Congratulations also go to Wendy Whelan with an age grade of 78.32%.
Our first male finisher was Tom Le Lievre, with a time of 17:16, and first female finisher, Jo Bennett, finished in 20:23.
Three runners had also achieved the dizzy heights of over 250 runs!
The total number of runs completed by all the runners was 12,277!
As always, a massive thank you to all those who answered the call out for volunteers this week. parkrun depends on volunteers, so if you haven’t done it before and would like to, please contact Chichester parkrun at email@example.com or check the future volunteer board next week. They are all easy to learn roles, some of which can be done whilst still getting a parkrun in.
The event was made possible by 18 volunteers:
Kevin WILLIAMS • Susan BARTY • Lynette WOODWARD • Neil DAVIES • Robert MALLETT • Ian ROBERTSON • Jeremy HARRISON • Peter FIELD • Amelia BROMELL • Steve WHITMEE • Sarah MORRIS • Ashley PLEDGER • Colin HANCOCK • Jane MOODIE • Lee MOODIE • Tony HACK • Johanna HARRISON • Pongrac PUSZTAY

The Age Grade course record is held by Helen DEAN who recorded 88.28% (22:37) on 5th January 2019 (event number 229).

All that remains to be said is that all the scanners and stopwatches are being charged, vests all sorted and tokens in their correct order, ready to welcome our new Run Director Jeremy Harrison for his debut appearance next week!
Big thanks to Neil for another great report. All our volunteers were brilliant this week and such a great help. Another lovely event flowed by with ease and thanks to all you runners for being a pleasure to host as always.
