Chippenham parkrun Event 290

Chippenham parkrun
Event number 290
7th December 2019

This weeks report comes to you courtesy of Steve Pomfret who was a pacer this week.

78918407_2686761968028686_8399321684250722304_n

A very pleasant, mild and dry, winter’s morning saw 183 runners join us. Chris Hunt welcomed 3 people running their first ever parkrun, and 17 visitors taking part in their first Chippenham parkrun. On tourist came from  Australia. Runners were made aware of some mud in the second field, but overall the course was looking good, and it was a great morning for a parkrun.

This being the first Saturday of the month meant pacers were running to assist other parkrunners, maybe looking for a PB. Thanks to Julia Maddocks who organises the pacers each month, and thanks to all the volunteers who gave it a go and filled the majority of the blue pacer’s bibs.

Pacing isn’t as daunting as it sounds – although to me it’s still a bit more ‘art than science’. But it is great fun, and there is a real feel good about helping other parkrunners. If you want to get even more involved in the ‘family’ that is Chippenham parkrun, why not give pacing a go. You don’t need to be an elite athlete, just choose a time you can comfortably achieve, keep one eye on the time, and the other on the pacer in front who is running one minute faster than you!

This week 19 people achieved a Personal Best.

Congratulations to this week's milestone, Sebastian COPPING  who celebrated his 10th parkrun.

Many thanks to the 34 fantastic volunteers who made this event possible

Chippenham parkrun Event 285

Chippenham parkrun
Event number 285
2nd November 2019

A combination of weather and Rugby saw us have less than 100 runners for the first time in just over three years. Also, we saw our lowest attendance in more than three and a half years.

This week 95 people braved the weather to run, jog and walk the course. We welcomed 3 first timers to parkrun and 13 tourists from other parkruns (Bournemouth, Cannon Hill, Chipping Sodbury, Watford and Killerton). Poor weather conditions resulted in only 6 runners achieving a Personal Best. Representatives of 20 different clubs took part.

Congratulations to this week's milestone: Helen Arber achieved her 50th parkrun milestone.  Helen began running here in December 16 and has completed 48 of the 50 at Chippenham.

Congratulations Andrew James a tourist from Bournemouth who celebrated his 200th parkrun.

We also wished Tom Smith a very Happy Birthday!!

Many thanks to the 21 fantastic volunteers who made this event possible.
