Merry Christmas to all and thanks to Adam Freeman for today’s photos.

Today in Julie’s absence I have been entrusted to write the report and what an amazing parkrun it was.   We welcomed over 190 people from far and wide including such places as Reading, Bristol, Peterborough, Harrow, Derby, Ellesmere Port, Southampton and our lovely neighbours from Lydiard Park, Pomphrey Hill, Southwick and Bath Skyline.

In addition to it being Christmas we also celebrated a birthday (Anthony McCarthy) and a 10th parkrun (Alfie Goswell (JM10)).

With Chippenham providing one of the few Christmas parkruns in the South West, not even the rain or the prospect of the mud laden second field, could wipe the smiles from the faces of the runners today. The enthusiastic supporters saw a sea of Santas file past interspersed with elves and even a cracker. Within this sea of red, the platoon of purple representing the Calne Running Club was noticeable through rain swept eyes.

There were 8 first timers running today and despite the puddles, wind, heavy rain and sticky mud there were 10 runners who skipped away today having recorded new PBs.

The finishers were then lured to the scanning table where they were rewarded (or tempted) with a number of festive treats including seasonal mince pies and chocolate.

Don't forget we are hosting a New Year parkrun on 1st January starting at 10:30am, you could run 2 parkruns on this date, starting at Southwick at 08:30 or Swindon at 09:00 and then come to Chippenham for 10:30.
