Clacton Seafront parkrun | Event number 213 | 30th April 2022 | parkrun in memory of Pete Inman

This week's parkrun came with a mixture of emotions as we ran this week in memory of former core team member and accomplished photographer Pete Inman. I started my pre-run briefing with a few words about Pete who on a personal level shared some similar values to myself and having attended his memorial service on the 5th May I found out even more about the parts of his life I didn't know about and will be sure to visit where he now lays in the future.

My words were sincere in that for me Pete and his role at parkrun embodied it's very spirit as Pete wasn't a runner however volunteered with us many times just because he knew people completing parkrun made him happy as did his various ways of capturing parkrun photographs and as Simon Rich reminded me the many times we would find him laying on the floor to get a better shot.

Once again our thoughts go out to Pete's closest friends and family and Pete will forever be a valued and missed member of our parkrun family.

We asked parkrunners to wear orange this week and to donate to the justgiving page as one of Pete's other passions was supporting the RNLI, there was a great showing of orange even from some parkrun team members and regulars who were out on some parkrun tourism but still managed to wear orange and create a tribute to Pete so a great showing there.

ChiltonThis week 148 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 17 were first timers and 34 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 19 different clubs took part.

As I always say no volunteers means no parkrun and this week the following people were your hi-vis heroes:-

Diane PARTON • Christopher AKEHURST • Mel WILLSMORE • Brian BISHOP • David YOUNG • Simon RICH • Sam PLUMMER • Maria BLANCHE • Shelley SMITH • Daniel CASEY • Britteny PARK • Ginette LOACH • Mark JASPER • Linda ROWLEY • Felix HIRST • Rick ROBINSON

It was business as usual with Mark JASPER being our first finisher this week and Vicky MOORE being our first female finisher so well done to them.

Elsewhere a standout performance from Dale WARD as he got a new PB and edges ever closer to that 30 minute mark so well done to him and all those who registered PBs and everyone who got our course completed.

I will see you again at the next parkrun and thank you once again for your support and running in memory of Pete.
