Clare Castle parkrun Event number 50 29th September 2018

Thank you all for coming along today to run, walk or volunteer. Today was a very special parkrun as we were celebrating our 1 year and our 50th Clare Castle parkrun. I would like to personally take the time to say a very special thank you to our team of core volunteers who without hesitation have been here to support and ensure the run goes ahead each week.

Our park trustees have been particularly generous personally giving up their time every week to ensure our community can enjoy our local free parkrun, and with the help and complete guidance of Geoffrey Bray we can proudly say we have been sponsored by Leeds Building Society to get the finish funnel resurfaced.

In addition, thank you so much for all the cakes and balloons, I think we can all agree the cake made by Emma Hastings and family was incredible!!! A further thanks to the Railway Cafe who accommodate us and our often muddy trainers every week, and further still generously provided us with some of the delicious sweet treats for todays event.

Of course there is also you guys, the participants who show up each week ready to run, it has been incredible to watch and see every individuals effort and goals being achieved. With that in mind I am going to mention a few that have stood out this year, Charlie Minette and his brother Harry. You will all know who we mean as we have all felt the sinking feeling as these incredible children lap us along with the father James who also volunteers when possible. Charlie currently holds the junior age grade record at an incredible 20:57 seconds. Further to this the Hopkin Brothers (Chay and Ben) who are always in the top 10 and show us how effortless those speeds are supposed to look. Our current female record is held by Hannah Irwin at 18:00 and our Male record holder is Chris Darling with a not so modest 16:10…no pressure. We recognize its not just about speed here though, many personal journeys have been met and we a particular proud everyone who joins us each week. Well done guys.

Now lets smash the next 50 parkruns and aim for some more PBS and milestones.

22nd September run report. Event:49

Another tourist perspective of Clare Castle parkrun

From the wilds of South Manchester parkrun it was lovely to head to Clare.

Blazing home first was Ian Duggan in a sharp 19:44 followed closely by Jeremy Bell and James Thompson.

Quite against my recent run of form First Lady over the line was yours truly, followed Elyse Maidment and Fiona Cunningham.

A big well done to Charlie Minette and Noah Cox who ran super speedy times both in the JM11-14 category, and Ester L who on her first ever parkrun was the first JW over the line!

There were 6 people at their first ever parkrun this weekend, welcome, and be warned it's totally addictive.
An amazing 22 people ran a PB this Saturday also! I hope you enjoyed a post run coffee and cake to celebrate that achievement.

Finally and most importantly, a massive thanks to the volunteers, without whom we would have no parkrun.

Thanks again Clare hopefully see you again soon.

Thanks to you Emmy for writing the report, we would like to add how good it was to see the bridal party getting in their morning run with us before the marriage of Elizabeth and Chris Steward, congratulations guys!

We hope you will all join us for our year anniversary and 50th ever parkrun event at Clare Castle, we have cakes being baked specially and invite you to join us to celebrate post run.

Until Saturday....Happy Running
