parkrun 354 9th October

We've enjoyed some lovely weather so far this month, and this Saturday was no exception. There was nothing untoward to report after the early course inspection, apart from  increasing amounts of sweet chestnuts on the ground!

As ever, a massive thank you to the 26 volunteers who gave their time to enable the event to go ahead.  If you've never seen parkrun from the perspective of a volunteer, please do give it a go once or twice a year.  It's a lot of fun, you'll be hugely appreciated and it'll make the job of filling the roster week in and week out much easier.  A special shout out to Martin BELL, who doesn't even currently live in the UK, but who spends hours each week making sure we have enough volunteers to put the event on safely.

There were plenty of 'firsts' today.  A total of 38 runners took part at Clumber for the first time.  Here they are getting the lowdown from Mark MANLEY at the briefing for new runners.

Attending his first ever parkrun, and cajoled into volunteering by Barry MERCER, Josh  was somewhat bemused by it all, but nevertheless did a great job on barcode scanning duty.

Also enjoying his first parkrun, Adam CLARKE joined his wife Natalie for her second run at Clumber, having both flown all the way from Alabama to be with us.

It was all the 'C's in the first three this week, with Craig CARTER, Craig WOLSTENHOLME and Callum McBREARTY all finishing in under 19:00 minutes.

Don't forget that we'll be having a Halloween themed fancy dress at the end of the month.  Also, if you want to take part in the fantastic Worksop Halloween Half Marathon,  which passes through Clumber Park, get your entry in as soon as possible as it's nearly sold out.
