Christmas 2017 and New Years Day 2018 Events

You will be pleased to know that the Congleton parkrun team have decided to run the events on Christmas Day and New Years Day, both starting at our usual time of 09:00.

We need volunteers for both days.

For those keen park runners, the Hanley event starts at 10:00 on New Years Day so the double is on.

Volunteering Opportunities Still Available

The volunteer roster for August is looking a little thin. Without a full roster we can run the event.

The event only works if we all take our turn volunteering, generally 3 times a year is sufficient.

Please contact us and volunteer for a week over the summer. See the roster page for the available roles.

Thanks
steve

CREWE junior parkrun

JUNIOR PARKRUN: The good people turning the wheels behind the scenes to bring junior parkrun (Sundays, 9am, 2K, for 4-14 year olds) to Crewe are on the look out for volunteers!

If you might be interested in getting involved a little or a lot, please get in touch by emailing rowan.ardill@parkrun.com. Like all parkrun events they only get started and keep going by harnessing the power of the volunteers – so please help if you are able.

Holiday Period Congleton Park Runs

There will be two extra opportunities for parkunning at Congleton parkrun over the festive season (volunteer numbers permitting):

Christmas Day (25th December 2015): 9am start
New Year's Day (1st January 2016): 0am start

We hope you can join us to run or volunteer. If you've got friends and family visiting, why not bring them along. If you're away, you may still be able to get your parkrun fix. Check out the list of extra seasonal events Christmas Compendium on the parkrun website. The information is being regularly updated as more parkruns make plans, so do check back nearer to Christmas/New Year.
We'll also be running as usual on the 19th December 2015 (our 3rd Anniversary Christmas fancy dress run), the 26th December 2015 (Boxing Day) and 2nd January 2016. All will be 9am starts as usual.

Please note, The car park and toilets will be closed on Christmas Day, please park near the watersports centre / Nobano car park or park responsible in the estate roads. The car park and toilets will be open as usual on all the other days.
Remember, Congleton parkrun relies completely on volunteers. If you'd like to volunteer at any of the runs, you can get in touch via email congletonoffice@parkrun.com or by having a chat after your run.

Why not volunteer the day before a Race

Hi all,

Are you running on the 6th September in Sandback 10K, or Gawsworth 10K on 13th September or Macc 1/2 on 27th September or Congleton 1/2 4th October ??

If so why not rest your legs on the saturday before these events and volunteer at Congleton park run. The volunteer roster shows what positions are available. Drop us an e-mail and earn yourself 100 volunteer points.

You know it makes sense.

Volunteers Needed

Over the last few weeks we have been struggling to get enough volunteers to run the event, when asked we get a simple No I do not want to volunteer, ignored or I will have to check my roster.

Park run asks people to volunteer a minimum of 3 times per year to take the event work for that you get 100 points per event. WE understand that volunteering means it is up to each individual and their view of life.

A run at Hampstead Heath was cancelled recently due to a lack of volunteers, this could happen at ours over the summer unless we get some new volunteer coming forward.

Positions needed for the next few weeks:

Saturday 30th May
Now Full

Saturday 6th June
Finish Token Support
Funnel manager

Saturday 13th June
Run Director
Timekeeper
Finish Token Support
Barcode Scanning
Funnel Manager

Saturday 20th June

Finish Tokens

Barcode Scanning
Funnel Manager
Tail Runner

Cancellation of 17th January

Todays Parkrun was cancelled due to the course having a number patches of ice making it dangerous to groups of runners running round the course. As well as the round being slippy there were patches of ice around the track that looked like water but were ice and were very slippy.

Thank you to all those you turned up to run or volunteer for being so understanding.

T-Shirt Update

If a runner has qualified and ordered a t-shirt before the ordering system was pulled at the beginning of December they will have made it on to the definitive back-order list.
The back-order list has been passed to Tribe Sports. Once those 5,000+ Club t-shirts have been made they will be sent in bulk to parkrun and redistributed to event teams to hand out as before.

If they have not ordered a Tshirt but have qualified for a club then we ask that they be patient with us while we switch to a new system.

When we receive our new club t-shirts into stock we will enable the order process from their parkrun account.
We hope to take delivery of the first batch of club t-shirts in March and the minute these are entered into stock then we will open the order processes.

We will email them (assuming you are subscribed to receive emails), alerting them to the fact that they are now able to select and make your order.
