Fangs for the memories!

Conkers non-run parkrun report  -  October 31, 2020
Fangs for the memories! A short but sweet look back on some spooktacular runs...Trick or treat..you decide!

I’ve had a bit of a nightmare couple of weeks and have found myself hobbling instead of walking. Doing my best to ignore the pain in my left thigh (not neck), I kept running...not wise I now know. I can be a bit of a devil sometimes.

After a little trip to the wonderful Paolo this week, I am now familiar with what psoas and quadricep muscles are. Rest and recuperation- for some muscle tears -means no running for me for a few weeks. Boo hoo!
So, when Captain Roger asked me to write the run report, I had no recent runs to report on, no tales from the trails, no running to write about.  Fangfully, I have plenty of running memories to look back on and giggle at. Halloween at Conkers parkrun has provided some great dress up opportunities for my ghoulfriends and me....so I thought I’d share some with you…

All being monster fangs of puns, these zombee costumes are probably my favourite!

Better the devil you know? Yes - it is with these little demons...

And when there were only two, we still worked our magic with our tribute to Harry Potter... pretty wanderful don’t you think?

I’ve lost track of witch year this was but I’m sure you’ll agree that it was wicked...

And even when we’re not trying to be spooky...this has to be one of the most scary dress ups... celebrating Roger’s 250th as him! (Thanks to Jan for supplying actual Roger Cobb t-shirts.)

And while I’m trawling through the archives (thanks to many fangtastic photos by Dickieprints, Julie Mortlock, Iffacus photography) here’s a few more highlights of our dressing up capers.

This one was award winning- so hair-raising we won a mattress...

I have no idea why we did this but it is quite horrific looking back on it...

When fangs were a little warmer...and we were gourd-geous....and joined by Chris…

This was Conkers parkrun run director Lyndsey’s 100th parkun. We paid homage to her hero Audrey Hepburn! Faboolous, aren’t we?

Not quite trick or treat for Christmas...

Long haired Laura’s 100th...that hair was a pain in the neck...

Bat you’ve not seen this before... superheroes fighting crime with a washing up brush...(maybe we pre-empted a war on germs…spooky!)

Lastly, an unbaguettable run... sometimes you’ve just got to roll with it and if in doubt keep the vampires away with garlic...

hope these snaps haven’t freaked you out too much and that I don’t need to spell out the puns for any body!

I’m very much looking forward to running again soon –yes,  for the exercise, and for the fresh air, and for my love of the trails but most of all for making new memories with some amazing fiends….I mean friends.

Have you got any favourite running dressing up photos? I’d love to see yours now you’ve seen mine! Why not share them in the comments? Ghoul on....
