Well what an absolutely fabulous morning and start to an amazing weekend celebrating all things sport and Yorkshire. We were greeted early doors by wet dewy grass, bright blue skies and the hope of the warm sunshine to come. Saturday mornings quarter to eight on parkrun set up duties as the volunteers gather are just the best experience an RD can have... but don't take our word for it...
This week we had 131 parkrunners... 44 who were first timers... 31 who ran jog walked to new PB's... 2 parkrun ambassadors (nice to see you Frank Jones and Graham Pawley)... one brave faller who dusted herself down and sped off round the course... ED extraordinaire Linda completing her 200th parkrun and the marvellous Lizzie Medwell clocking up her 25th volunteer day whilst timing everyone home. Phew!
With all this wonderful exertion and community spirit it was only right and proper that we mosied on down Waterside to The Black Mulberry for the breakfasts of champions and one of the speediest results processing I have ever seen! Just as well, because we had to clear the car parks early before the UCI world champs para cycling kicked off the afternoon and an evening of partying in the Castle. Just brilliant to see the town out and about and so many parkrunners amongst them.
That's all for now... Be amazing in whatever you decide to do this week and we look forward to seeing you all next week either running jogging walking... or as one of our hi-viz heroes like this happy bunch below...
