Dates for your diary

Sat 29th February - a leap year day parkrun. It’s the first time Feb 29th has fallen on a Saturday since before parkrun began and the next time will be 2048, so it’s going to be a little bit special. Not sure how we’ll mark it yet, but we’ll be doing something, so make sure you join us that Saturday.

Sat 7th March - we’ll be celebrating International Women’s Day (which falls on Sun 8th). Two ideas for this. 1. Everyone of all sexes to wear purple if they can to show their support. Plus, we’re going to have an all female volunteer team that day - girl power - so if you fancy getting involved, drop us a line.  We did consider having an all male volunteer team so all the the girls and women could run but decided that we preferred the control of organising it :-)

Sat 28th March - Youth takeover. The young have it. The volunteer team to be filled by our fantastic U18s in every role. The idea came from Shannon, one of our regular U18 volunteers and she will be our Run Director for the day. Don’t worry, we’ll keep an eye on them all. Any children wanting to marshal (and we do hope lots of you will) will sport the hi-vis and have the radio, but they’ll need to bring along a responsible adult to support them. In the finish area, we’ll have a mix of U18s who are fine doing the role on their own, plus some who need to bring along their adult support crew. We’ll also ensure we have a least one floating responsible adult from our core team keeping an overall eye on the finish area. It should be a great parkrun, get your names on the roster early.
