Corby parkrunners pound out the Km’s in Stamford

A number of Corby parkrunners took on the challenge of the Valentines run in Stamford on Sunday 15th February. The 30Km course wound its way through Little Casterton, Tolethorpe, Ryhall, Careby, Pickworth and Great Casterton on a challenging rural undulating route.

Our congratulations go to Sarah Davis-Foxon who finished 3rd in her category, Alan Mutch, Kirsty Bennett, John Eales & Simon Cook and of course, anyone else who ran that we have missed.

Northants 5k Series returns for 2015

Welcome to the Northants 5k Race Series. The series is now in its fourth year and has become embedded in the county's annual running calendar. Almost 400 runners took part in the 2014 event, including regular club runners, jogging groups and even those who are completely new to running; the 5k Race Series offers something for everyone.

The 2015 Series will include four races across four very different venues, on different terrains.

The Corby race is likely to be one of the scoring races within the County Road Running League.

  • Sunday 26th April 2015 - Corby 10.30am
  • Monday 18th May 2015 - Kettering 7.30pm (Child's 7.00pm)
  • Friday 5th June 2015 - Wellingborough 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 15th July 2015 - Northampton 7.30pm

The popular 5km race distance is suitable for people of all running abilities aged 11 years and over on race day (11 and 12 year olds must be accompanied by an adult entrant).

Routes: Each of the four course routes are very different:
Corby – on road & off road route (two and a half laps)
Kettering - multi-terrain course through woodlands (two laps)
Wellingborough - multi-terrain course through parkland
Northampton – multi-terrain course through parkland (two laps)

Distances: All four courses are 5km, which have been measured, certified and licensed by UK Athletics.

Fees: Affordable and not restrictive.
Affiliated: online £8 or £10 on the day
Unaffilliated: online £10 or on the day £12
We offer a discount if you compete in three or more races::
Three Races: Affiliated: £21 Unaffiliated: £27
Four Races: Affiliated: £27 Unaffiliated: £33
Children’s race is £3.50 online or £4 on the day.

Entry Categories: Individual or Team. Teams can be made up any mix of men and women, who can race to win one of the Team Challenge prizes. The winning team will be decided by the least cumulative finishing position of the four fastest runners in that team.

Children’s Fun Run: Children 7 – 13 years
At the Kettering venue which is approximately 2.3k. 7 and 8 year olds taking part in this event must be accompanied by an adult (no entry fee for adult). All runners will receive a finisher's medal.

Race Entry Includes: Medal for all finishers plus a great sense of achievement!

2015 Lakelands Brass Monkey Run

Well, it was so great to see so many familier faces at the Lakelands Day Care Hospice Brass Monkey Run.

Corby parkrunners will be aware that our annual ladies and gents points Trophies are supported by Lakelands so it's nice to be able to pay that support back and it really helped pass the time shouting cheers to runners I recognised ........... as they blasted past me!!

A huge well done to Paul Marlow and his team for a fantastic race, full of the usual fun and nothing new to see Mr Marlow aping around - and well done to all those who took part helping to raise around £5,500.00 for this hugely important local charity.

We look forward to next years run

Lakelands Day Care Hospice 10k Brass Monkey Run – Brrrrrilliant !!

Brass Monkey 10k Run

Join us in banishing those winter blues away at this years Brass Monkey Race & Fun Run in aid of Lakelands Hospice.

As always the family fun run consists of a single lap of the Rockingham Racetrack which is about 1.5 miles and the big race is an official UKA registered 10k race!

Building in popularity, this Brass Monkey 10k race is an exciting chance to run a PB at Europe’s fastest motor racing circuit!

We will be giving out medals and goodie bags to all runners and there are age group awards and spot prizes!

We look forward to giving you a warm welcome at Rockingham in January whether you are coming for serious speed or just to enjoy some family fun!!

Time to get festive

Our annual Santa's, Fairies and Elves run will take place on Saturday 20th December at the West Glebe Park.

Corby parkrun # 63 will host this years fancy dress run where we encourage our runners to come and run dressed as either Santa, a fairy or an elf.

After the run we'll meet in the West Glebe Pavilion for hot tea's and some mince pies, carrot cake and biscuits.

So, come join us for some festive fun.

 

 

Itsssss Christmas (well, not yet)

Corby parkrun are pleased to announce that we will (weather permitting) be holding our first Christmas day parkrun this year.

We will start the run at the usual parkrun time of 9am. An event has been created on our facebook page so please, if you're on facebook and you intend running, let us know by check that your going to the event.

The Saturday before Christmas day is the 20th and we will be holding a Santa's, Elves & Fairy run. Come dressed as any of these if it tickles and there will be a bag of Haribo for the best Santa, best Elf and best Fairy. Join us afterwards for a mince pie, biscuit and a hot brew.

Time to start warming up then ;)
