Event 72 and the sun shone for the Kirkby Milers Takeover and Pacer Event! An impressive 269 people ran this week of whom 39 were first timers
There certainly was a party atmosphere this week with the Smiling Milers providing much welcome bottles of water, cakes, sweets and goodies to all finishers.
In addition they provided a donation bucket and a very welcome £55.17 was donated to our parkrun funds, thank you all so much. There was also a collection of unwanted running t-shirts which were donated to charity, thank you for all your generosity.
James Warburton was the Run Director for the day and said:
‘As run director for the Kirkby Milers takeover, I'd like to thank every one of our helpers and runners. Last year at the takeover we had 186, this year 269 runners. Just a massive testament to how much people think of this Parkrun. Big thanks to everyone who donated money and unwanted tech tops for charity. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the goodies. Do we really have to wait a year for the next one!! Maybe a winter takeover?!!’
As well as the takeover day it was also our regular pacing event, and this week we had a massive 69 recorded new Personal Bests, clearly that pacing is paying off for those who are looking to improve their times!
Our first finishers this week were as follows;
Alex Rigby (SM20-24) of Liverpool RC, was first over the line in 18:15 followed by Paul Schumann (VM50-54) of Knowsley Harriers AC, was second over the line in 18:19 with an unknown runner was third.
Cathy Grierson (SW30-34) of Penny Lane Striders, was first (27th overall) over the line in 21:23 followed by Paula SCULLY (VW40-44) (Unattached) was who was second in 22:28.Kate Rhodes (SW30-34) (Unattached) was third in 22:43.
We hope you enjoyed the takeover event this week and another huge thanks to the Kirkby Milers for all their hard work, if you would like to know more about them please visit their website for further details.
We will have other local running clubs doing takeover events in the coming months; watch this space for further details!
