Run Report 7 May 2016

The sun was out and the colours of the park are springing into life and the promise of summer is just round the corner. The best colours though are the ones we watch running through the park. 20

This week we had what is now a regular event on the first Saturday in the month – the Kirkby Miler Pacers – David, Mark, James, Emma, Ian, Matthew, Chris, Bhav, Linda & Claire. This helped 68 of you to overcome their PB barriers and smash their times.  41

We’d also like to tell you a little about Matthew who was helping out at the introduction of the pacers who has clearly overcome some barriers of his own. His dad Darren posted on facebook a little video of Matthew with the post which we wanted to share with you... “Just a little post to outline some of the benefits of parkrun, that perhaps some people don't appreciate come from these fantastic events. My son is severely autistic and for the past couple of months has been attending Croxteth Park parkrun. parkrun has helped so much to develop his spacial and social awareness and as you can see from the video he has lots of confidence to walk around and do his own thing. The organisers and runners at Croxteth are unbelievable with him and the amount of people that say "hello" to him is humbling. A massive thank you to parkrun organisers up and down the country especially at Croxteth and also to the runners there for taking the time to make Matthew feel welcome.” 26

We all love seeing Matthew (he's in the orange t-shirt in the middle of the pic) at our parkrun and one week we hope he will do his special introduction for you all “Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls, Dogs & Squirrels - Welcome to Croxteth Hall parkrun”

Run Report – Event 40 – 19th December 2015

Our 40th event was a fabulous festive run with many of the runners and volunteers turning out in Santa Suits and Christmas jumpers. This week there were 119 runners, of whom 9 were first timers and 22 recorded new Personal Bests (we guess the promise of mince pies and chocolate at the finish helped with the pbs!) Representatives of 13 different athletics clubs took part.

Congratulations to two Croxteth Hall regulars, Michael Charman who earned his place in the 50 club and Rob Johnson who joined the 100 club.  Also a special mention for Jessica Murphy our regular bar code scanner who was able to run this week for the first time and was a little overwhelmed by the fantastic support she got out on the course! We have had so many offers to volunteer recently that the core team are now able to take it in turns to run, so a big thanks to all the volunteers!

Thanks to all the runners who gave cards and presents to the volunteer team, it’s lovely to know that our early morning Saturday efforts are so appreciated.

Thanks from one of our runners....

As you may be aware, Christmas Day and New Years Day are the only two days when parkruns can be held outside of the normal Saturday 9am time slot. As we have said previously, we won’t be holding additional events at Croxteth Hall on either of those days. Details on local parkruns who will be holding additional events can be found here:

Will be back at Croxteth Hall as normal on Boxing Day at 9am.
