Run Report Event 43

It was a really sunny morning for junior parkrun today although quite slippy from last night's down pour of rain. It was my first time as run director since I had started volunteering for DofE and I was very nervous going in to it, however the experienced volunteers guided me through it and I couldn't have done it without their help. There were many volunteers today to help out with over 80 junior runners, which was very helpful. We started with the volunteers brief which I thought went well, remembering to mention all of the milestones which our volunteers had met. We then moved on to the runner's brief, with a massive number of runners raring to take on the 2k course. After the warm up we moved on to the run which as Scott reminded me is not a "RACE". Lots of the runners today posted quick times and all gave a really good effort. Thanks again to all the volunteers for making this event and my first as run director possible.

Remembrance Sunday parkrun

It was a beautiful morning for Junior parkrun today. What a difference a week can make after last week’s downpour.
As it was Remembrance Sunday we were missing some of our regular runners who were involved with parades. Despite this, 36 runners turned up to take on the 2K course.
Even though the course was very wet and slippy, 10 runners posted personal best times – a great effort!
Thank you to the volunteers for braving the cold – and a special mention for volunteer heroine Janice for reaching her 50th volunteer milestone - a big Whoop! Whoop! from the core team as well as Whoop! Whoop! for Stuart (your RD for the day) for whom it was his 25th volunteer occasion.

Event 20 – The first frost!

I checked the thermometer this morning, and it was officially chilly. But did that deter the 51 runners who came to Daventry Junior Parkrun this morning - you know the answer to that! With a beautiful blue sky as the backdrop, 5 runners speeded their way through to a PB. A big shout out too to the 4 first timers - we hope to see you again soon.

A particular thanks to the volunteers, who struggled with numb fingers to scan your barcodes and cheer you on - the event couldn’t happen without you, so many thank you’s to all the volunteers. And a special mention to one volunteer - Simon Elliott, who managed to timetable in volunteering as a VI guide into his 50th birthday celebrations, well done to Scarlett for ensuring that he built up a sweat!

Finally, congratulations to George, Ethan and Nathan who all collected their half marathon wristbands today.
